Russ I think this was the giveaway from Beaumont's comments that it was name change or I quit from Marwan's point of view: "He is a businessman and knew what he needed to do commercially to try and make it work as a business but understandably that met fierce resistance and people voted with their feet." Carnster, of course there are concerns about the future. However the future was of Salford was also ebbing away under the previous owner if he had got his own way so we are no worse off in that regard. We've probably got a season to get the club set up as a proper asset to the community and hope that the benefits this brings lead to more investment from the local area etc. Maybe it won't happen but I'm certainly not writing it off after a couple of months of their ownership. Failing this the euromillions is around £130m on Friday. Perhaps we should all lump on. It's not altogether clear what that " needed to do commercially" means if it does refer to Manc then DK should propose something similar for Leigh and see how that goes down. A season to change round getting decent support and bums on seats and income streams coming in just sounds like a recipe for joining the Bulls. This is not about attacking the new regime and neither should it be about attacking the old one. We haven't yet seen what the new set can do, and we shouldn't ignore the good stuff about the old one either. No one wants to write off the new team so let's be fair at both ends and recognise MK's input, investment and love of SRD and TGG and stop acting like he's a member of the cosa nostra because he rubbed us up the wrong way! At a time when the new season has barely begun we should be able to look forward with a bit of optimism and hope but realistically I can't seem to get that together and the excitement is missing a bit as well because of this.

I agree regarding Koukash and have given him credit on here for saving the club and keeping us in the top flight.
I also agree that we should be fair to the new ownership and give them a chance etc, which is why it is frustrating to see people say things like the final bits of life of the club are slowly ebbing away etc after they've been in charge for just a couple of months.
No one knows what will happen. Sadly after the three decades of mediocrity most fans default setting is to take the pessimistic point of view which is both understandable and disappointing at the same time.

As I've said to Derek on numerous occasions, I wish he would butt out of our Club's affairs. It's absolutely nothing to do with him. Exactly. It’s unprofessional to have a dig at another club’s predicaments, whatever the motives are.

He's not wrong though is he? I thought it was a measured and respectful commentary on our current circumstances. It's not negativity it's a realisation that the club is in a bad way with little obvious ways for that to change. I've said similar so far this year and the end of last, albeit without the MK parts as I don't know the man. I don't think it does us any good as Salford fans to deny what's staring us in the face or pretend that it's not happening. I've found this preseason and the start of this season to be intensely sad from my point of view. I think I'm watching the the final bits of life slowly ebb away from the club I've been a part of and has been a part of me since I was a kid. I'd love to be proven wrong about this season, and really hope beyond hope that I'm wide of the mark... You might be right Carnster. But Koucash could have done a lot better at Salford and probably spent less money,if at the start of his tenure he had got the right people on board got people in like these trustees who are supposedly good at what they do.But he came in like a bull in a China shop I will do it my way I know best attitude.I look back on Koukash as a big missed opportunity if only.

I agree with you Dixon, I felt this, 2018 was our year if Koukash had stayed. The good build up was there with Watson, and at the time Sheens. It takes years of success to increase your crowds

As for MK being a bull in the proverbial I liked that and I won't pretend I didn't to sooth a few upset brows either. I also liked knowing we could go into the transfer market with a reasonable chance of quality. I also liked Wilky for sticking by us year after pretty miserable year. And I can't help the way things look to me at present, and have stated openly I hope I'm wrong, and I can't apologise for that either. If the new set up proves me wrong and this whole thing works out brilliant, but I can't but help and compare it with the proposed take over of the NZ Warriors and their ambitions for that club and where Fev are now.

Think pretty much every person agrees that Dr K got out a season to early, with minimal investment and the retention of BMM I seriously think we would have had a chance of bettering last season finish and stayed in the hunt to the end. I was surprised that his advisors with a knowledge of rugby didn't tell him as much, maybe they did and his toys were already out of the pram over the fans dislike of the name change.
Do I think the new board have the best interests of the club at heart yes, do I think they can make it work no, I simply fear that interest in Salford piques at around 4000 now with signifiant increase if there is a decent cup run.

I dislike Beaumont intensely but much of that is sadly true. Are you talking about DK or me Michigan?I still maintain what I said around Christmas that I think 2018 may just be the end of the road. Sadly I agree.
As I thought for the posts though! The decking peddler not you Russ, I have nothing but love for my fellow forumeers.
