Catalan dragons have signed a New deal for all their Home matches and some Challenge cup games in France and elsewhere. www.loverugbyleague.com/post/new-tv-deal-agreed-catalans-home-games/BEIN Sports definitely will be interested in Bidding alongside SKYSPORTS When the current deal ends in A few years. Would the Super League and the RFL Have the Guts to say no to Uncle Rupert?

Would the Super League and the RFL Have the Guts to say no to Uncle Rupert? In a word NO! The RFL and Sky are always going to be bed fellows, not got so much of an issue in that as the coverage is not bad (note I said coverage not commentary) and they seem to try new things each season, what they have continually done is undersell such a wonderful product. The current long term deal is shocking, I'd love to have seen how much better the deal would have been if a Koukash would have been in charge of negotiations.

Not a chance of Bein , getting the rights, as long as there are brown envelopes the RFL and SKY, in one pot, Sky will offer stupid x amount, RFL will say yes, then the brown envelope and free holidays start to arrive for the RFL. they are bent from top to bottom . they need a complete clear out.

There’s no evidence whatsoever,as far as I’m aware,of what you’re suggesting. However,I agree that the Sky deal, which effectively led to full time clubs, has run its course and needs looking at through a fresh pair of eyes. Surely,Nigel Wood won’t be replaced by another crony. The non exec directors should do their jobs properly and recruit from outside

Unfortunately Sky are the only ones with UK reach that stand any chance of growing the game. They are a necessary evil but the RFL need to push them harder on marketing etc.
If all the live action is put on a lesser known channel such as premier (which would be the best for us with its NRL coverage) then it is unlikely that a non Rugby League fan would ever see a game and potentially never get interested.

Premier don't have NRL this year either...

I know that the RFL probably signed up to an exclusive rights deal with Sky but at the moment only two games are being shown each round, which is pathetic. The RFL should be pushing for more games to be shown by Sky or negotiating for those games that Sky doesn't want to show to be open to another provider (BT, Premier, terrestrial, whatever) to bid for with part of the revenue going to the RFL and a "reseller fee" paid to Sky.
Sky might go for this type of arrangement as it increases their revenue at virtually no cost. However, I suspect that they would want to keep the RFL tied in to an exclusive contract whilst throttling the content that us fans actually get to see

Let's see what RFL has to offer a national or international TV provider before we moan about the offerings. Compared to Association Football, we are not even in the same region never mind negotiating room. We do not have the international grab of RFU games nor the potential attractions of T20/20 from India. Darts is on the up and attracts a lot of home watching (if the conversations on the trains, I hear, are anything to go by).
The game is conceived as parochial (Catalans, Toulouse and Toronto are seen as quirks by many even in the Rugby world). It has little financial impact (if the players at City and United each contributed one days' wages each, they could buy out Salford). It needs explanation for a neutral audience (Gaelic football is similar and look how that is marginalised; then see how darts is growing as easy to comprehend). And, we still have opposition from certain quarters.
I love the game and market it at every opportunity. However I realise that the major media players are looking for something else. No problem in dreaming but ...
