Think I drew Koukash out a bit last week on Twitter after a very interesting conversation with somebody well placed. Also told in no uncertain circumstances that the players were informed of a rebrand (spittoon) after we thumped Hull FC a month or so ago. I think it's spot on the comment he can change his mind like he changes his underwear and so I'm prepared to take it at face value that it now may not be a done deal and attendances over the next 2 months might be pivotal. It should be gauged over 2+ years with a winning team though. I wasn't being sycophantic when I said the AJ Bell is beginning to feel like home after 5 years. The 2000 hardcore ST holders might possibly be quite enamoured of the place (well St Mikes + The Unicorn + The Dog & Partridge before and after games) and with each win comes good memories and a deeper affinity of the stadium. Rip the Salford name out of the equation though and it's game, set and match for me. Patience is THE virtue here. Interesting that Ian Blease seems a bit marginalised and reduced to retweets on Twitter. Hope he still has MKs ear and trust. Imagine the contracts are taking up a fair portion of his time and RHP isn't filling the void and Marwans head with fanciful tales of the yellow brick road to Manchester and the glittering prizes that might (will not) come with that. Certainly going to be an interesting few months on and off the field.

Very well placed word on the street is we'll soon see J.Carney reunited with Timbo at HKR and T.Carney boarding a V2 Vantage bus to Leigh until the end of the season.

This is all very hypothetical and fairly pointless at this juncture BUT the only compromise I think I could stomach with all this nonsense would be:
Move INTO a central Manchester location but retain the Salford name for AT LEAST 3 seasons. If the crowds are still duff (and assuming the upturn in form on the pitch continues) after that and the business / financial model is completely unsustainable THEN AND ONLY THEN explore the option that dare not speak it's name(change).
Ideally I'd love, and can actually sense a top-4 finish, cup final appearance and regular 6.5k + crowds at Barton and the Salford name to return to the badge. Patience is required from Koukash and co but it's just really odd that this has surfaced at the exact point that the team is looking stellar.

When you stop and think about it, there is no such thing as a 'new generation' of Salfordians. All Salford births now in either Bolton or Manchester. We're being quietly eradicated with each passing decade!

Looking forward to some dreadlocked bongo player from The Guardian performing an in-depth investigation into body-shaming in Rugby League. The Guardian Dreadlocked Bongo Players.
Careful, the RFL might consider them for a League 1 spot in 2018.

Just a quick one - if a brewer produced a decent tasting lager or ale under the Salford Red Devils banner and sold in pubs in Salford / Gtr Mcr, would you buy it?
Not a revolutionary idea I know but was amazed by the amount of independent beers on draught and behind the bar on the Height on Saturday night. If done right, would be ace to walk into a 'Spoons or a Holts' house and seeing the club badge illuminated on the taps. Would probably switch allegiance from Crystal myself if it tasted alright and got you bladdered.
Could even run promotions on it to win a pair of tickets for home matches etc. I've suggested it to young Master Blease on Twitter and Seven Brothers has been mentioned as a possible partner, Salford company and that.

Not entirely related to this thread but not really worthy of one of its own: just realised United are playing Chelsea on Sunday 16th April, Easter Sunday and the day before Salford are playing Catalans. I was already looking forward to Lloret De Mar but that puts another slant on things. Could get messy (as the kids say).

Challenge Cup Final every time. Not least of all because ever since I can remember, my dad (admittedly after several large beers on a Sunday afternoon) saying 'If Salford ever make it to Wembley again, I'm taking the whole lot of you down to London for the weekend!' (He was there in '69).
39+ years and a whole arm of the family in Western Australia later he's yet to have to make good on that bold promise. Dunno if shipping my sister over from Perth, WA would be part of the deal though. Either way, it's gonna be pricey!

Nothing can surely ever get any lower than the sub 2000 crowd vs Huddersfield a couple of years back. Live on Sky, 0-19 defeat, hammered it down from beginning to end AND it took over and hour to get from Eccles to the ground on the bus.
That was truly a nadir. This season so far has been a breath of fresh air in comparison.
Roll on Friday!

Wonder if the Doc will look at playing in Manchester for this? He did moot the idea of playing there last season, it's hardly going to give them a massive home field advantage playing in Eastlands. Just going to say, It's nice to get a home draw, We seem to be drawn away over the last few seasons. Cannot remember last time we were at home in the cup
Season before last wasn't it against Widnes at home? The round after we'd beaten Hull FC away with Rangis golden point that then turned out to be Nobles last action in charge of Salford. Remember coming away from Hull that night thinking we could really do something in the cup and then a shite performance at home saw us go out to Widnes on a sunny afternoon. Usual Salford stuff!
Edit: 27/04/14 - Salford 20 v Widnes 30 (att 2630)
