Hopefully with the brains trust we have in our three coaches we'll be able to fine tweak some of our weaker areas. What we don't want is to dismantle our current processes and start in a different direction. The way we were working was pretty good and improved later on in the season due to losing double figure numbers of players each season. This season we have our best threequarters with plenty of depth for a long time. I feel we need strengthening in the front row and maybe another halfback as cover and with some good coaching hopefully a good season.

Great stuff all round even if you have to post on two different Orr threads! I'll delete mine. I'm nice like that... We must have posted at the same time. Great Minds eh?

So we have a new assistant coach Danny Orr. Based on the attacking style of play at Castleford and the fact that he's been brought in to focus on our attacking play it looks a really good appointment to me. He's been assistant to Darryl Powell for a number of years so has the experience and the Salford connection too. Exciting times ahead (hopefully) Danny Orr

Seemed great until I realised it was a May press release Bonita, I thought exactly the same as you but hopefully he will stay. If not then it should be a big payout

Just noticed this morning that the money raised so far for MND has surpassed £1 million. That's some going that. It does show how high profile media can make a difference not only to this, but to our game in general. Both Kevin Sinfield and Rob Burrow should be inspirational to us all. Fantastic achievement by Kevin to raise so much money and run seven Marathons in seven days.

Sam Luckley welcome to Salford I know it's hard to judge a player from highlights but he looks to have good leg drive and a useful offload. Looks promising. Salford LinkHighlights

Can’t keep a player if he wants to leave, probably offered a lot more money than he is on at Salford. Get top price for him and move on. Watson is only doing what any other manager at a club would do and it’s happened for many years at Salford. It’s sickening but that’s sport. well said. We only want players here who want to play for Salford. If he wants to go let him go. I'm confident the club will spend the money wisely and find a suitable replacement. It's true we only want players who do want to play for Salford but where does it end? Does Watson want to relocate the whole team and call it Huddersfield? If Yates and/or possibly Tui goes it means we've lost a lot of our spine for the second year on the bounce. Evalds, (Inu?), Welham, Tui, Lussick, Dudson, Yates, Flash. A lot of quality players to replace

Wellcome to salford. Looks like a good appointment to me. Richard Marshall did well at Halifax by improving players much like Watson did here. Ideally he can do the same with better quality players at Salford. Hopefully Paul Rowley keeps his role as assistant to keep some continuity with the players

Certainly one of the best games I've ever seen. The Intensity & Fitness of the players was unbelievable. What a finish. I was really disappointed because I was looking forward to golden point. Congratulations to both sides as neither deserved to lose.

It may be good financially but I think we'd see the Super League teams stripped of all their top players playing in the NRL. It may be good for the national team but I think the SL teams would be made up of older NRL Players and the weaker English players. The NRL will be looking at this for their benefit not ours

I don't think it's fair to compare Watson and Wane from what they've done as coaches so far.
Wane came into a Wigan team that had processes put in place by the excellent Michael Maguire. He did a really good job in maintaining those standards with quality players and a great youth system. He won three grand finals and a Challenge Cup with a team that were expected to win trophies and is obviously a really good coach.
Watson came into a team that was not performing well with players that weren't other teams first pick. He totally transformed the team and improved the players so much so that other teams then cherry picked. He then had to mould new players in great numbers each year into a team that performed well above expectation. He got us to a Grand Final and a Challenge Cup Final but we didn't win unfortunately. Ian Watson was involved in changing everything in the Salford club and is obviously a really good coach too.
What type of coach do Salford need now? We have a fabulous backline and if Kevin Brown can stay fit all season good half backs to go with it. The front row needs additions and a clever 13 to replace Flash. Could the type of coach Shaun Wane is take us to the next level from where we are now, or do we need another Ian Watson type coach to get the best out of players we can afford?

My worry is a points deduction or fine for not being able to field a team for the Warrington fixture. It would be very RFLesque to hand out some punitive measures down the track for that. Though can see that with the promotion by vote of a team to replace Toronto that relegation next season will be scrapped. If they do MR then St Helens refused to travel to Catalans and I think Leeds turned a game down too. Mind you, there are different rules in RFL Land depending on which team is involved

My initial thoughts about Watto leaving was why Huddersfield? I was really annoyed because he'd been doing the promotional videos all week and going on about unfinished business. I think we are all a bit biased because we are fans and to Ian Watson it's a job. If someone came along and offered us a job with a lot more money, potentially better players and a financial backer we'd probably do the same.
After thinking about this for 24 hours I'm thinking it all looks a bit sudden, like a very quick decision and a change of heart. What may have happened quickly to influence the decision? I thought it may have been Jackson Hastings agreeing to go to Huddersfield with Watson, but then they have Aiden Sezer so do they need him? I'm sure in time we'll find out.
Very disappointed but these things happen and we have to keep the faith.

Just heard from a good source that Yates is off to Huddersfield following Watson. Yates signed a new contract at the same time as Moose. If he does go it will be a big pay out for Salford unless Salford want to let him go. The same with any other contracted player. Any players we had in the pipeline however are a different proposition

I don't think Patton is bang average from what I've seen he's got it in him to be a top 7. Hest unfortunately fell victim to Wires desire to win silverware quickly with him being stuck behind how many halfbacks since he's broken onto the scene. He might not have crazy pace but he's got a good rugby brain, can organise and can kick both in field well and goals. He's like Danny Richardson who had to leave Saints and join cas to show how good he is and i think fingers crossed a move to Salford will be his choice. I think Dec Patton has the potential to be a typical Watto signing. He needs a good run of games in a team that appreciates him and not looking to sign another Australian "Superstar". He certainly guided his young team around the park against us a couple of weeks ago. That is probably the most important area Salford need at the moment. Tui is not an organiser and he needs someone to guide the team. Kevin Brown is the perfect foil but only concern is if his body can deal with another year. If he can't then him and Watson coaching/guiding half backs would be a good combination.
