Hadn't heard anything about this but apparently the stadium has been valued at less than £7,000,000! How on earth can something that cost 3x that be valued so low. The Sale owner says they have offered a substantial amount over that valuation and Peel have said yes but the council have said no, now for me if there is the remotest possibility of the stadium being sold Salford need to be at least 50% owners. A deal with Sale for shared ownership where each club keeps it's own game day revenue and all other generated coffers are shared equally by the two teams. Wonder if the new owners have the ability to get involved in any purchase or if Koucash might want to invest as he always maintained that the stadium is key to Salfords long term success. www.salfordstar.com/article.asp?id=4315

Sale also said they have an agreement until 2021 if they don't get it they will be off.Value of 7 million and Salford council has 18 million tied up they can't sell it well not for 7 million.

Am I missing something here pal, where the heck are we going to get that kind of money? I agree we need to have ownership so match day profits are our own but that initial outlay is way beyond what is in our coffers I suspect.

Once Sale get the stadium, we'll be out of the door...

Once Sale get the stadium, we'll be out of the door... Is this a bad thing? We earn zero on match days at the moment...

How can the council have 18 million tied up in it? 1. From what i have read it cost 25 million to build and is owned by council and peel 50/50 , so even in my maths that is 12.5 million, the council are in it for. 2. 8 million of said 25 million was spent on clearing the land so they will get that back when they sell parts of the land. so that makes it 17 million split 50/50. 3. I also read there was a 30% grant from the sports trust or something along those lines. so that is another 7 million of split 50/50. so that is down to 10 million split 50/50. 4. Sale have had the ground valued at 6.5 million. Which if you do the sums and we have been told the truth about the money? ? seams about right to me. 5. Sale have offered the council 9 million. . Dont know what they have offered to Peel. But 9 million split 50/50 is still 4.5 million. . So unless the council have been STUPID. AND PAID more than 50% it is not a bad deal to me. They need to cut there loss and remove there debt.

We have not payed rent. The council took out a loan for stadium we have not payed rent their was interest on the council loan that's why the council can't sell it If had been as good a deal as you said they would of sold it but it's not.The first season we were at the stadium when Wilkinson broke the news we need 8.000 fans to break even if we had got them we pay the rent the council pay of the loan it never happened. You can bet all the tea in China if they could go back knowing what they no now and make the decision again that stadium would never have been built.

The rent is owed by Salford 2013 i think, Which is owned by Marwan. not Salford RLFC. trust which now run Salford RLFC. And if you can work out who owes what there , you are better than me Gungaden. Have Sale being paying there part of the rent? Or are they as bad as what Salford2013 were?

It's funny you say that at the supporters meeting Monday last one of the trust was ask about the debt. After a twenty minutes we were none the wiser. It does not matter who owns the debt is to Salford rate payers and they will be picking up the tab for years to come.

Sale have been paying their dues. That's why the wanted to purchase the ground if they had got it they said we would have been their tennant.Like I have said in another post if the council could go back to day one. They wouldn't have got involved.

Sale Cuckoos will own the stadium sooner rather than later and we'll be out on our backside because they will demand payment of the rent (and rightly so, to be honest) and we don't have the money. I hope I'm wrong, but I fear we will be homeless and playing in League 1.

Cam see the council selling eventually but also with them adding a caveat that we much be allowed to stay at the stadium for as long as we want, we all know what Sale think about all things legal and moral so not sure that there would be much comfort involved in such a caveat.
I originally asked if we might get involved in the purchase alongside Sale, pretty sure Marwan could be tempted to become involved in that as he has always maintained the stadium is the be all and end all of Salford becoming a profit making self sufficient RL entity.

Normally agree with you MR but not on this one. MK won’t be the least bit interested, his project has finished and I doubt he has the cash. Salford Red Devil’s simply don’t have any capital. Salford Council won’t sell, because at the price that’s being quoted, they’d be crystallising a loss and that’s politically unacceptable. Council will front up to Sale’s threats unless their offer matches what the Council have it in the books at.
