I know there's a meeting tomorrow for members, but what is this?
Is it Forever Reds resurrected in another format?
An official website has been set up and it states;
WHO ARE SUPPORTERS DIRECT (SD)?
SD acts as the umbrella body for sports clubs that are owned by their supporters, and supporters’ groups known as Supporters’ Trusts which are typically constituted as Community Benefit Societies.
Is it affiliated to the club and are the fans going to be part of the trust going forward, I know from IB's official club statement that they are appointing a season pass holder to the board, is this is what this is for?
It has a yearly subscription of £10.
As someone already said all clear as mud.

It is a supporters trust that has nothing to do with the club directly.
Supporters Direct operate as an independent team that advises supporters on setting up supporters clubs.
This has nothing to do with the club or being appointed to the board.
I have been involved with supporters trusts before and they need to set clear objectives early on. So either use the money they generate to buy shares in the club to increase our representation at the top of the club (not sure if this is possible if MK owns all the shares), use it to pay for improvements to the ground (as we do not own the ground this seems pointless/unlikely) or be set up to improve the match day experience.
The last one is where i hope they go, but this hasnt really been clarified as yet.
Hope that clears it up Astleyred

You could be a Trust member but not a season ticket holder so I don't think that a non season ticket holder could be elected to the board of trustees as it stands. I am a season ticket holder now and when I pay my £10 tonight I will be a fully paid up member of both organisations.

What real power do Trust members actually have? I haven't paid my £10 yet because I'm not entirely sure what it aims to achieve, and how everyone's membership will contribute. Can anyone shed light on this?

I'm with bandgeekmafia wasn't really sure what this was for based on the SD statement that it represents fans trusts that runs clubs. And based on your info above I'm not sure what if any clout it will have, I'll hold off joining anhopefully tonight will shed some light on it.

I think the whole timing came together coincidentally, some supporters had discussed activating a supporters group again & the first meeting coincided with the clubs announcement of a season ticket holder being elected to the Salford board. I understand the supporters group will have no powers within the club, however I understand Ian Blease is fully aware of the intentions of the supporters group. I like many supporters will be attending tonight's meeting where I am sure a number of outstanding question will be answered.
I not on any committee or want to be, however I have joined & paid my £10 as I do firmly believe the supporters need to engage in having its own independent forum, which helps keep supporters involved & hopefully the new trust board will recognize the importance of the supporters fans group whoever they maybe.

The under 16 are playing the Midlands on Wednesday night if anyone is interested. Maybe that's one of the ways we can help going forward. What I also took from the meeting is that the new trustees are not coming in as the 6 stoges.Probably someone can had more.

What is the actual reason for the trust? Is it to act with the club and be part of the new era? Is it to do something in the communities independent of the club? Is there any coming together of the trust and the club? Can anyone actually tell us what all this is for?

All the questions that need to be answered Carnster.
I doubt Shirley has anything but the best interests of the fan and club at heart but it is odd straight answers can't be obtained.

It's all very well saying they want to help take the club forward but they need to say how and what they're doing to make it happen. Calling for people to join-up and become a member is fine, but the aims, and more importantly, how those aims are to be achieved need to be communicated. They have not done so yet, and it all seems a bit weird until they do so.

Everyone at last night's meeting has got the best interests of the club at heart. You'd hope so, just clear definitions and goals would help put peoples minds at ease when we all really need it.
