Is anyone else worried by the current lack of investment, i've heard massive cut backs on players for 2018 and reading Todd Carney's comments it could be true. Not sure where the club are going to be honest. No academy, poor recent results, low crowds, rebrand talk etc etc Thoughts?

Carney tweeted a reply to the official twitter account after they posted confirmation of him departing at the end of the season, it's still there if you have a ganders.
It's a bit broken English and not too sure what he's referring too......was it a dig at the coach? Did he have no respect for an ex school PE teacher telling a former Daley M winner how to play?
Not too sure, make of it what you will.
Either way not very professional.

It basically says that Todd Carney was asked to leave in order to save money.

It basically says that Todd Carney was asked to leave in order to save money. It all depends whether that was to save money and that's it's or to buy someone better! If just savings then we are in deep doodoo! I think this may be part of MK's "strategic withdrawal" and then the doodoo hits the fan! In which case see you in the church everyone! get practicing in nomine patris, et filii, et spiritus sancti !

Carney was released because he couldn't get fit and sustain his fitness.

Apart from a few minutes in a couple of games Todd Carney has been disappointing throughout his time at the club and I for one would have been worried if we had retained him for 2018 onwards. Todd was an exceptional player some time ago but for whatever reason he appears to have lost that spark and enthusiasm that he clearly had and I hope that he does find what has been missing over recent months.

Carney was highly effective when he was younger because he had electric acceleration and pace. As he's got older he's lost that and consequently a large part of what made him a good HB.

Bloke told that there was no job for him next year as his performance did not merit it. He then spouts of on social media. Normal situation seen it so many times before.

Not making excuses for the lad, but tbf he's not really had a chance, numerous games on the bench and only thrown on for the last 10 minutes, then given a few games in a side with the worse form in the league on an extended run of defeats, playing behind a rag tag beaten pack......can't have been good for anyone's confidence.
But I agree it was a strange signing, he's not the player of old and must've been on a fair whack! Im more than happy we're getting rid

The first thing an athlete loses as he gets older is his pace. If pace is a big part of your game, you have a very limited shelf life.

Thought, at the time, it was a great signing to have 3 good half backs available. He's had a couple of good games but with his skill and experience I'd have expected him to run the team as Dobson did but sadly never fully fit, too slow, seemed unenthusiastic.
Pity.
But we do need 3 half backs for next year and don't think GOB one of them. St Helens, Widnes and others suffered when one of the two half backs out.
