I've just been reading about the unfortunate incident after the game yesterday and the clubs new anonymous text number to report bad language/behaviour to get people banned for life. The club said they had received a lot of complaints about bad language in the West stand yesterday. I was just wondering with this in mind does anyone think the club should have a family stand where the more sensitive adults and children could watch? It's just I don't think you will ever eradicate swearing at live sports events with passions running so high when under the influence. Perhaps the middle section of the East stand would be a good location for it. Perhaps the club could find a sponsor for it. Thoughts? I'm just concerned that if people are going to get banned for swearing we'll have even less people watching us.

I think the East Stand is a good suggestion, although I'm not sure how much it would cost the Club to open this stand in terms of hiring G4S personnel and staff to run the bar.
The anonymous text number is a good idea. I think it has been used successfully in the past by other teams.
I still don't really know what happened after the game. I believe someone threw a pint at Childs? Although he had a stinker of a game, that sort of behaviour is blatantly unacceptable and fair play to the Club for acting on it so swiftly.

I heard there is a cost and that's why the club choose to keep it closed. That's why I suggested a sponsor to contribute towards the match day operating costs. The problem is it just looks terrible when we are on sky sports and the entire stand is completely empty. It doesn't really sell the club and make people want to go does it? Going off topic here but could the TV gantry not be moved so the camera's face the west stand? I heard it was something to do with the location of the sun for the camera's but I've known other teams in other sports change the gantry position. Surely Sky would prefer pointing the camera at a large populated stand than an empty small stand. It just looks so naff and makes us look like a right Mickey Mouse club to the outside observer.

I've managed to get my wife and kids to come along this season and even got my mum there yesterday-who's last game was Wembley '69. The language from some in the west stand was absolutely disgusting but just effing but a lot worse. So much so they now don't want to go to the semi. The club wants to increase the gate and I think a family only east stand is a fantastic idea.

I think the problem with the AJ Bell is with the East stand shut those that prefer watching from the side can only watch the game in the west stand. So basically those that watched for years in the more atmospheric shed at the Willows who don't like the view from behind the posts have no alternative. I think this incident shows the club need to have a re-think if it wants to attract and appeal to more people.

until the crowds deemed it necessary, the East stand won't be re-opened due to the running costs of manning it with security and refreshment staff. The better solution is to make a section a family area in the West Stand and sell it as that. unfortunately, though no section really lends itself well enough to make that happen so it's a catch-22.
I hate the way we show the East stand on TV - highlights and full games but there really is no viable option to house a camera there full time. Any platform would have to be built from behind the East stand and over the roof of the stand to give a better viewing angle. It is just not going to happen. The better suggestion is to have the East Stand open to either away supporters rather than the north stand or swap with the south stand for home supporters. We looked at having a standing area in the East start of last year and thought it worked well, even though I wasn't one who took up the chance to stand over there.

The south stand is currently the only viable option to watch the game stood and as you say, those who prefer to watch from the sidelines have either the option to stand behind the sticks or sit in the west. I prefer to stand to watch the game and unfortunately, have to do so from the south as its the only option available. The view of which is quite poor I feel, especially when compared to other grounds who seem to have got the correct angles on the terracing.

Perhaps if the family stand was in the middle below the corporate seating area some may either sit further to the sides or be more considerate knowing it was the family section of the stand? I think one common ideology of Salford fans is wanting to see more supporters at games rather than driving people away.

I'd very much doubt the consideration of others to a family stand would occur if things like yesterday occurred knowingly with families and children about. it needs to be a proper segregated area really that has specific tickets for.

Our family of five adults and three juniors are in the West Stand and have been since day one of the new stadium and we are in the right hand side at around the 20 metre line, and yesterday we heard lots of complaints against the referee but no swearing whatsoever. What I did see was some really poor stewarding in that firstly a couple of Leeds fans were entering the West Stand in front of myself and they showed a steward their tickets and asked where their seats were situated,he shrugged his shoulders and shook his head, some Salford fans directed them to their correct position. Then quite a lot of fans who were not regulars were in seats that people had been allocated with their season ticket and without exception several people were swapping seats without any problem whatsoever,no thanks to the stewards though. As other people have said many times previously the vast majority of fans from all Rugby League clubs are good genuine people who love the sport, sadly a small minority cannot take their ale and spoil it for the majority. I personally thought that Leeds were excellent in the first half we were off form completely and they capitalised on our sin bin and other mistakes and everything that they did paid off ,in the second half we improved but the game had gone by then. I also thought that the Leeds fans were excellent in the numbers that came and the way that they supported their team throughout the match. Finally I thought that Child had a very poor game,he was inconsistent in applying the rules and at times he looked lost threatening to blow the whistle and not doing so and yes I was shouting from my seat about his handling of the game throughout but I would never leave my seat and go anywhere near the dugout at any time. All that I would like to see is Steve Ganson view the game in its entirety and give people a run down on how he thought that Child and the other officials performed on the day.

It's frustrating when your team are getting put to the sword and you aren't getting the 50:50 calls. I wouldn't blame the referee for the result but their appeared to me to be at least two very good shouts for obstruction that were simply ignored. It was also ironic that we got awarded a penalty at the end of the first half when there was about 15 seconds left on the clock. It kind of makes you think the ref did it to even the count up a bit in the knowledge we had no time to score. When everything is going against you it's natural to jump to conclusions and think the referee is conspiring against your team. The truth is the ref made some poor calls but it wouldn't have affected the outcome yesterday.

Anyone else see McDermott patting Childs on the back and having a word with at the end of the game. Anyway back to swearing. I sit in the West stand and always do, I do hear swearing but this is a passionate game and sometimes in the heat of the moment people do let their feelings get the better of them. I would rather this passion than a load of people sat there not singing not commenting and just staring at the game.

One thing I noticed was that the Leeds 'water carrier' was blatantly out there giving instructions, without any water! He didn't even pretend to be doing anything different.
I know all teams do this, but when it's so blatant I think the linesman need to step in and have a word.

I've never been in the East Stand, is it split in two like the South Stand, i.e. two concourse areas and not a single tunnel all the way through? Could maybe just one of these sections be opened instead?
You're always going to get bad language at a rugby match; if it's to the point of people being put off coming or bringing their kids though, then something needs to be done. The texting in thing is a decent start, but having a dedicated family area would be best I think.
