Surely to God the RFL can't seriously expect them to still travel and play? Just goes to show that Catalan should be made to play both games over the long weekend away from home rather than expecting a team to travel to France and play inside 72hrs.

Not ideal if the team aren't arriving until Sunday evening and are expected to play the next day, but there's not much they can do about it now.
I fancy us to give Catalans a tough game but ultimately I think the small gap inbetween games will be the difference. I hope I'm wrong.

Was the fight actually cancelled or did we prefer another recovery day ?

Genuine question here guys so please don't rip my head off!☺
Does anyone know what the impact of a 2 hour flight has on an athlete? Bearing in mind there is a 1hr time difference (I think!) so no disruption to sleep patterns etc is there really that much of an impact? I know you have the waiting around at airports etc but again the players will be able to walk around, relax etc and I'd imagine get use of an exec lounge before they fly. The 24hr flight delay isn't ideal but players will have time to have a training session, massage, swim etc after arrival and a full night's sleep. Is there any research out there that can verify that short travel like this has such a detrimental affect on player performance? When you consider that many football teams (especially lower league teams) often have 4/5/6 hour coach journeys on match days I'd have thought a short flight would have far less of an impact.
Honestly just a genuine query as I've never bought the whole excuse Catalan have had that their away record has been sh1te due to the travelling involved. I get that some players will miss kids/family etc but surely that's only pre-game and as soon as you step onto the pitch your focus is 100% on the match?
Or is it just me that thinks players are too pampered these days?☺

I don't know about pampered, after Fridays slug fest they deserve all the pampering they receive. I do agree that going a day later isn't a particular problem particularly as Junior and his mates went to the cinema last night which was probably more relaxing than spending a night in a foreign hotel.

The team were expected at Palau Sunday for a ' training session',however that was cancelled, and no arrangements have been made to use the Palau ground this morning. I assume that they are relaxed about the whole thing. Dont underestimate the team that plays today,I know Friday was tough, but Catalans have plenty of their own selection problems. " Allez Les Diables Rouge"

I suppose it all boils down to preparation, and only the players and staff will know if that is right.
It may work in our favour in that everyone has less time away from family and loved ones, with no spare time to kill. I guess we'll see today!

Come on Reds, let's make it 6 in a row! Now I know we should only be taking one match at a time but with Widnes (H), Catalans (H) & Leigh (Magic) as 3 of our next 4 after today we have every chance of sealing our top 8 spot by the end of May.😮
Hope all those travelling have a safe and rowdy trip and cheer the lads onto another 2 points!

Well, I've just finished watching that on't box. Pretty miserable scoreline, but I'm not going to read too much into it.
3 day turnaround vs 5. Hooker off after 10 minutes not to return. S'au off early. No subs, big forwards having to do 80 minutes in heat on no recovery time. Pretty much unwinnable set of circumstances. Bounce of the ball went, as it always does, with the side on top. I wonder if we're placed in that situation again, whether it's worth playing as many squad players as possible to avoid knock-on effects from fatigue down the line.
My only real gripe is that Todd Carney seemed pretty anonymous. Was hoping for a bit more, but behind a tired and beaten pack, maybe I'm asking too much.

Agree almost all of this, apart from playing squad members, rather than first team. Turned out as I'd expected, not as I'd hoped. Concerned also that Todd Carney was anonymous. Far,far too soon to be on his back but nowhere near as influential as Lui.

Easy with hindsight, but I agree i would have played a weaker side today. That said, I'm sure we will play some squad players next week.
Under the circumstances, as mentioned heat, player loss and Catalans playing the best they have played all season, still think the score flattered them slightly.
Very impressed with Carney's pace for that try, quicker than I thought. Tother carney was quiet, would give him full 80 v Toronto needs the game time. All in all, not great but not the end of the world. Had to end some time! Back on the horse next week!
