You have to put out your strongest team if you want to be consistent, so for me Tasi / Jones would come in for Walne / Krasniqi, the difficulty lies with TC. As you state with Lui / Dobbo playing well how do you fit him in, do you put him in the bench again losing another forward and at the risk he doesn't come on again effectly handicapping you to 16 players? Or do you mix it up against Widnes try something different, I personally feel spelling a half for a half is the waste of an interchange, so when TC comes on do you move Lui to 13 to give s forward a rest? I'm sure they'll have tried Lui to 13 in training, because that seems the most appealing. If it genuinely adds to the team play and creativity, plus gives the forwards more interchanges, then I'd like to see that on Friday.
It's a big call though. The nay-sayers will be quick to pounce on it if it doesn't work out - why change a winning team? etc. etc... (I think I would be inclined to agree with them too!)
It was clear on Sunday that Cas had done their homework on O'Brien's running angles as he was cleaned out (sometimes without the ball!) on a number of occasions. Imagine the problems that the defensive line would have to deal with though, if TC entered the fray with Dobbo, Lui and GOB. Would give the Widnes lot a real headache.
This may be controversial, but I'd drop Johnson in favour of Evalds on the wing. He's a better finisher and much more comfortable under the high ball IMO and Widnes will pepper GJ if he plays after that first error. It's good that Watto has so many decisions to make on his best team. Oh Gees, Hauraki has still to come back too!!!

I think the TC conundrum will work itself out over the busy easter period, where it may be pertinent to rest certain key roles in each match. Especially seeing that our second fixture over Easter is away to Catalans giving us even less time than usual. Having someone of serious quality to step into that role is a massive plus for us. I think you may see him come in for the Widnes game in some fashion. Even if it's off the bench. Good time to get him up to speed in a match ready for a crucial game at home to Saints then the busy Easter schedule.

I think he'll come in for Lui as we go into the Easter period as we will want a fully firing Star Man toward the end of the season, unlike last year when he looked like he was playing on stumps rather than legs.

We have to find a way to get Carney involved. I am all for him having to bide his time - hopefully the days of players being selected on reputation alone are gone. But we could have a genuine season-altering talent sat on the bench.
I must say the idea of spelling Flanagan, shifting Lui to Loose Forward and introducing Carney at some point during a match appeals. And surely Widnes is the game to do it in?

Said before I'm a fan of a big home debut for a star player but what better surface to have all the attacking threats that TC, GOD,Lui and Dobson possess on the pitch at once. Regardless of weather conditions it's a guaranteed fast track.
I'd even go as far as resting Flash and starting Lui at #13 and having a bench full of forwards to help steamroller Widnes for the creative players torus riot when they tire.

Rob is a bit of a speedbump defensively, while Mark Flanagan is more of a brick wall. I think putting Rob at loose forward is a high risk strategy, but you never know. In any event, the squad for the Widnes game will be interesting. Tasi should come back and maybe Josh Jones, but who would you leave out?

He had his best game yesterday IMO. Swap Johnson for Evalds.
TC on the bench again and interchange Lui into loose forward to accommodate. I think the pack is big and strong enough to withstand anything Widnes can throw at us. Particularly if Tasi is fresh and Flash can have breaks too.

What a problem to have. Listening on the radio I found myself saying not to bring him on. This was ,I think, down to the fact that Cas had apparently stopped the GOB intervention and our Plan B was for BMM to be surgically attached to Lui. We do need to find a way of using TC without pissing off Rob Lui. That's why Watson's a coach and I'm a spectator.

Last season we used to play with 3 or 4 pivots in the early season - Dobson, Lui, GOB and Lee. When Tomkins came on Lee would move to 13 and would act as another pivot. I think that was a crucial part of last year's plans and was working well in early season. It is one of the reasons why Lee's injury affected our season so much. I noticed yesterday that Tomkins was playing at first or second receiver for a couple of sets before he went off in the first half so I wonder if Watson has similar ideas this year. If he does then having Dobbo, Lui, TC and GOB on the pitch at the same time could easily work. I wouldn't say Lui is as bad a defender as some have said but he's clearly not on the same level as Tommy Lee so that could a challenge. If we can get it to work then the options we'd have in attack could be mouth watering
