I think the most important signing will be Sheens replacement, still amazed he has gone back to a head coaches position and especially when yesterday's result was always a possibility. Bringing in a non rugby background CEO is as important, for all his enthusiasm the Doc makes mistakes he shouldn't, he should be the figurehead but leave the running of the club to the professionals and join us for a pint in the stands 😎 Unfortunately this isn't happening according to the doc yesterday. Cutting spend on non playing staff

According to a very credible source on RLFANS, we are in talks to bring Lama Tasi back.

Thought we were past buying dodgy characters. On the other hand, he was good for us in his time, and he may feel more at home back here.

Didn't Tasi claim he wasn't being paid correctly? I'd be wary of bringing him back as he did seem to be part of the clique that caused issues when he was around.
Would rather take the guy from Hull KR who's been mentioned previously.

Would rather take the guy from Hull KR who's been mentioned previously. Certainly the 'Saint's Dream Team' of Long & Cunningham have made some strange signings and Tasi is one of them in my view. I couldn't see the other top clubs wanting to sign Tasi, Fages, or Owens, the kid from Widnes. None of the three could be said to be up to the usual Saints standard when they were bought and none of them have improved a massive degree whilst at Saints, when presumably they were bought for their potential. And so I'm a little wary of bringing Tasi back, but if Ian Watson wants him, I would trust his reasoning-especially after last Saturday when he gave a really mature coaching performance way beyond anything we could have expected and beyond his experience of big games of that magnitude. Maybe Tasi is better as a bigger fish in a smaller pond rather than the other way around. Would we swop him for Tommy Lee, or he is going somewhere else now?

Good news on player retention is that kopczak's Mrs on Twitter saying 100% he is going to be a Salford player next season.
"of course he's staying, the Leigh rumours we're just that! Rumours, he absolutely loves it at Salford and it's a close knit group of lads"
Apparently just rumours started by some no-mark called Barker.
"maliciously started by a Mr Barker I'm told"

That is good news, based on this season CK must be in line for a captaincy role. Leads by example and usually the first to form a scrum when we are behind on the scoreboard. He was obviously not fully fit for the MPG but put his hand up like may others during the game and put the extra effort in.

So the only lead of any substance rumour - wise is Lama Tasi's coming home?
A bit deflating to say the least!

Think the problem with Tasi is that many of the SAUCEs of his problem remain close by, many having signed for Leigh and from little bits I gather he is quite the party animal in Manchester, little doubt he has the attributes to be a top class SL prop, doesn't look like he has the dedicated required though.
As for a lack of rumours again I'm happy with that, makes a change from the Doc getting lashed up on Twitter and making promises that don't materialise, I'll happily settle for signings to be announced in the old fashioned way with a press release by the club itself.

Not being funny but without Sheens our main pulling force and spotter of gems I don't think we'll be attracting the kind of player we did this year. We've left it even later on recruitment as well so we may have to accept players like Tasi and Crabtree. Not that they are terrible as our best signings imo were koppy and O'Brien with neither setting the world on fire or being as good as they're this year. A change of environment can do a world of good so I'm willing to give them a chance.

Agreed, I hope that Sheens had identified those he thought suitable before he left and that we still persue them, I hope though that the Doc offers the right wages rather than inflated ones to entice people. When the Doc courted Shane Flanagan during his NRL ban there was talk of a tie in with Cronulla, I wonder if the club might try and foester a link with him/them again and see if they can give any info on fringe players who we might entice.

Here's one for you Russ, on Twitter there are rumblings about a one Billy Slater, but seeing he has just bought a new large property in Australia I doubt there is any mileage in it.
Even if true with his shoulder being shot and the fact he has hardly played for 2 seasons not really the type of big money signing we should be making.

I seem to remember reading that Tim Sheens had agreed to help Ian Watson with team selection and coaching so long as it didn't interfere with his coaching role with KR (e.g. when we played them). Now that KR are in a different division there should be little conflict of interest so may be willing to help with recruitment?

I guess the conflict of interest would be if we ended up having to play KR again in next season's Middle 8s. I'm hoping that doesn't happen though!
