On tonight's broadcast he has not said one positive word about Salford, not the Stadium Deal, not the new signing. Just that we are not very good and that our employees should be worried about their future. This guy is a smug prick, I'll be emailing Sky tomorrow about his appalling views which are biased and not based upon any truth.

This might be controversial, but it’s time for the club to take a stand against him and his corrosive opinion of the club. If it was my decision I would be writing to Sky sports and inform them that a no point Mr Wilkin will be allowed entry to the stadium. I’m like most fans I can take constructive criticisms of the club, but to almost boast about people losing their livelihood is driven by his ignorance.

Wilkin has built his media profile on being controversial. It's never been an avenue that brings success as eventually you just annoy everyone at some point. My main problem is that he loves the sound of his own voice too much. He almost ruined the SL podcast with his presence until they got rid of him. In a sport desperate to reinvent itself, holding onto the negativity with dinosaur opinions from parochial apes like Wilkin is now doing more harm than good.

I'm so glad you've put this on here because, against my better judgement I was going to bring him up anyway. Sky seemed a vastly improved set yesterday. Kyle Amor like many ex-players tends to concentrate on negative aspects especially towards the losing club.
Then there was Wilkin with his "You can only play the victim for so long...." soliloquy, a monologue that truly gave the game away that he's annoyed that our fanbase isn't overly fond of him.
Being controversial will get you noticed but it's annoying at best and tedious all of the time.
As Carnster pointed out the sport is supposedly reinventing itself and that's more or less impossible with DH's like Wilkin front and center, so on a good night for Sky and a bad one for Hull Wilkin came out as the bottom feeder.

I sent my email to Sky last night,John Wilkin spoilt last nights broadcast with is pathetic comments, whereas Sam Tompkins came over as very diplomatic and knowledgeable all through his part of the broadcast. Wilkins came over as completely the opposite and clearly likes to be controversial and loves the sound of his own voice. If I were in in his shoes I would be very worried over my position with Sky as with his performance last night he will quickly run out of friends in the media as quickly as he has lost the respect of fans of many clubs.

I don't think Sky will care. I think that's the role the want of him. I remember seeing him interviewed once and he spoke about how angry he was at comments Phil Clarke made about Saints. He approached Phil one day and brought it up. Phil said to him "Jon, it's just TV". Basically, he said it to create controversy, or a talking point, or to get people's backs up, probably all three. I think that's how Jon builds he media profile... One Phil. Not the best role model!

Lets see my email is in - suggesting that Salford employees should be worried about their jobs is a step to far. He has know right to be provocative about our clubs viability or our employees job assurance without hard facts, he did not have any. Carney cut him off to stop the rant getting any worse.

Most of the time they talk nonsense anyway, did you notice how many times "sustainable" came up in sentences?
You'd imagine. if you were completely foolish, that all the category As were in the black and rolling in dosh and profit margins.

Although a bit unfair if you want to listen to the Sky commentry and news generally because he's right there.
Will he be at our game as well?
Personally I think we should either keep this thread going all season and see how many Anglo-Saxon nouns and adjectives we can find and use about him or place him in the ne'erdowells thread though that seems like alot less fun to me.
