Although it was a win win with a T O v Broncos I'm not sure either of them would do well in SL, have enough readies for SL or enough time to build a side ready for SL. That’s what I mean most players have already signed with clubs This is one of the faults of the player contracts system whereby players are signing deals for the following year by mid season. By the time the season is finished any promoted team is left looking for the scraps, unless like Leigh they have a backer who can take the gamble and recruit early. If the contract system / transfer window kicked in after the last game of the season then a newly promoted club might have a chance in the market and give themselves a chance of establishing themselves in the top tier. I have heard people say that doing this would leave players uncertain about their future's but its what happens in football and lets face it in other walks of life. Anyone can walk in work tomorrow and be told they are going to be out of a job. Well done to London, but it highlights the ridicoulous nature of the play off system. I am no fan of Featherstone but they walked the League and should have been promoted. If there are play offs it should be for a second promotion spot or a play off between the Championship second team (or maybe third and fourth too) with the second bottom SL team. A similar format is used in Scottish Football. Personally, the League is the league and if we want some form of Final at the end of the season go back to the Premiership Trophy and play both the SL and Championship Final on the same day at one venue. I do agree with Adam Pearson on a 14 team SL and one Championship Division. I'm not sure about the TV deal. Its great that we can watch every game. However, I can only see this meaning even smaller away followings and reduced attendances. I've seen people saying it will give greater exposure to the game but it won't as its' on Sky and in truth it will be fitted in around the football and other sports. The game is at a tipping point now. I am not in favour of anything IMG have suggested as yet. We have tried licencing and it didn;t work and just destroyed clubs like Widnes who were abandoned to the wilderness of the Championship. Once you remove what happens on the pitch from the game it ceases to be a sport. For some idea where the game is situated at present the Grand Final did not get mentioned on the BBC news Ten o'clock bulletin last night.

The BBC don't even mention the CC Final on its morning news programme even though it is showing the final!

Away game next season at that London instead of a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a subtropical climate?
If it had been Fev promoted at least the beer would have been cheaper.

"For some idea where the game is situated at present the Grand Final did not get mentioned on the BBC news Ten o'clock bulletin last night." Aunty has alway been a poor partner media outlet for RL the attitudes it clearly represents and typifies just like it's dreadful domestic news coverage it might as well rebrand as London Only News.
Should have said its International coverage is outstanding for showing this is not just a northerner having a go at the south.
To be fair to the beeb, though I take your point, it's easy to access RL on their website, you just select Sport, then select Rugby League. Though focussing primarily on SL, they also employ people to report on and classify results of the lower leagues.
Take, by contrast, the Independent newspaper's website. On Grand Final day and Challenge Cup final day you'd expect that, for once, the sport would be in the top tabs, but no, Saturday's listed Soccer, Formula 1, Yawnion, Cricket, Tennis, Boxing, UFC (whatever that is) and Golf. Clicking on the generic Sport tab today there's still no proper rugby despite two vital games over the weekend. Lots of crap about US sport, Formula E, athletics.
My opinion is that the BBC is perhaps not that interested, but papers like the Independent have a rah-rah bias, which unsurprisingly includes a built in prejudice against the proper game. I'd hoped that once the hypocrisy over professionalism ended in kick and clap in 1995 there'd be a more reasonable attitude developing, but I've yet to experience it.

Ex red Lawton joined Oldham from Widnes Had the basic tools to be a decent player. About the size of Walmsley with a good turn of pace for a big guy as well. May sound harsh but he didn't seem to have the heart or the willing to do the tough stuff though. Seems like a bit of a wasted talent.

Another former, Red Devil Elijah Taylor, one of 16 players released by Featherstone, Did he get much game time? I never really saw much about him but thought he was excellent for us b

I understood that Elijah's knees were giving him problems and that he had decided to step down a level. If that is the case, we should not offer him a contract. If, however, he decides that his knees (and the rest of him) are good and convinces Blease and Rowley of that, then we should.
