Absolutely nothing wrong for local authorities to loan money out to boost a business and also reap the interest off such investments. For further reading, it all can be seen here. www.local.gov.uk/parliament/briefings-and-responses/local-authorities-borrowing-and-investment-bill-house-commons-23As we know the "usual suspects" and leathcheann read on here to try to find material for their clickbitery bollix. Well they will hopefully be "horrified" at the extent how councils have supported RL. Aside from what Salford City council have done for us. There is this- đThe ÂŁ12m each from Wakefield MBC to their three professional RL clubs for stadium improvement. đHuddersfield Giants' play at the John Smith stadium was partly financed, built and run by Kirklees council. đLikewise Wigan MBC fully or partly paid and still run the Robins Park and LSV, where Wigan and Leigh play respectively. đLeeds were able to upgrade Headingley through a commercial loan, guaranteed by their City council. đKR's Craven Park was rebuilt in partnership with the City council via the Kingston community development and now have an running partnership with Hull college. đFC were helped by the council in developing and supporting them at the MKM stadium. đBradford wanted "Levelling Up" funds to renovate Odsal. đAnd finally it is given that local authorities support their sports clubs in Toulouse and Catalan. Whilst I can't as yet see any evidence local government support came for Warrington or St Helens, I am sure that the new roads around them weren't funded or are maintained by their owners. But hey ignore the precedents, the laws, the facts, for some will always be in a post truth world.đđ¤ˇ

This is no big deal and certainly doesn't need defending against people who would find a dispute on the Moon. Garrido and his ilk use this to stir the pot without ever coming up with any alternatives or solutions. In fact it's a wonder they haven't accused SRD of being lefty woke or other such illogical baseless arguments!

Let's face facts, some RL fans are just pissed off we're still dining at the top table so they'll use anything to try and get rid of us. Like you said IDTH, it's fine for other councils to pump cash into other SL clubs but when it's Salford the goalposts are moved. Sale fans likewise, all got a bee in their bonnet that the council are backing us and whinging about how they'd be kicking off if they were a Salford tax payer. Couple of them even quoting that Tory tosser Garrido which pretty much sums them up.
I'd love for their lease to be ripped up and for them to be kicked out but not going to happen sadly. Would allow Swinton to move in and be a truly Salford community stadium.

Do we know if the stadium deal has been concluded yet? I saw Paul King briefly yesterday and he seemed to be in excellent spirits.

Sale can always come under our banner and change their name to Salford RUâŚthen add Swinton and Salford footy and we have a Salford Community Sports Club banner..where we all chip in for mutual benefitđ
But of course weâre all parochial and fight each other

Itâll be a stitch up mate as ever..donât waste your time: the Private ClubâŚbut you can be on a Sub Committee to do the workđ It wonât be a stitch up, far from it. If fans want to make a difference and you have the requisite skill set then put yourself forward and let your fellow owners choose the best people for the job.

The statements made indicate that the club is run like some sort of cabal. I do not have a direct relationship with Paul to the extent your pal Salford 1963 does Pete but I read the situation for him as **** or bust given his house has been or is on the line, if he makes decisions out of necessity like selling players then I'd do the same. The reality is we need the council deal done and 6k in v Leigh when your pal Beaumont comes to Platinum dinning.

No issues with anybody, I just think we are always in survival mode, but PK, when I saw him with Neville promoting the fact we should go to ML, I thought the end of the roadâŚbut along came an outsider to muddy the waters luckily.
We seem to have treaded water, waiting for the lifeboat for the past number of years blaming the crowds, RFL, Council etc and living off handouts from fans, selling players etc. Itâs a good job Watson and Rowley have generated great teams with few resources because if Marshal had ben around longer weâd be gone. Iâm not sure how Watson and Rowley did it. But perhaps his stroke of genius MW appointed Watson and Bleasy and Watson brought in Rowley to assist.
But hey ho we all see life thro different spectacles

But hey ho we all see life thro different spectacles I do not follow your cryptic explanation JJR. You first statement infers PK wanted to go to Moor Lane then a bid from Gerrard stopped it. If you think others might run the club better than that is your prerogative. It is fact that MK was bad for this club and yes I agree we've been fortunate to have Watson and Rowley work wonders. As for the running of the club yes we've no money at this point but I am behind the Board in terms of the community ownership vision.

The Supporters Trust started that vision and generated a thoroughly reached Community Ownership Plan with expertise in the wings able to support it, many years ago, and good to see its inception; although it only reached a third of its target of ÂŁ1M
As for the Club, it looks as tho we had a Business Plan this last year which was out by about a ÂŁ1M even tho many apparent âbusiness expertsâ were drafted onto the than BoardâŚbut of course, as yet, we never see the accounts and get fed sparse information blaming companies not getting involved, supporters not turning up, Council not delivering on time, RFL funding etc
So who knows whatâs going on but we keep selling players, raising more money off fans and getting loans to survive.
Its only a picture of the way a number of us see it; we all have a different perspective without factsâŚ.but the rugby as ever is good

I do not share JJR's view on the existing board however that aside I did see an article on LinkedIn yesterday which said the Stadium deal was done so that is positive news for the club.
