Just passed 160k. 90k left in 19 days, so just under 5k per day required. The recent average shows we'll be around 200k but you typically get a boost in the last week, which keeps the target very much in sight, especially if 2/3 businesses get involved. If the event on the 23rd goes well we could see the club hit 300k. It's also been nice to see a few fans from other clubs buy a share. I think this is an angle the club can use - make Salford everyones second club. Promote the rugby we play. Promote putting the fans first and at the heart of everything. A model for the future. A model for sustainability. Will be interesting to see what happens on the 23rd. I think most of us plebs who are coming in at lower levels have put in by now and it's our big chance to catch the bigger fish that are out there for the larger packages. I'm confident we'll still hit the 250k and I don't think the club aren't being proactive. I'm sure they're already in negotiations with some people who have shown interest and they're putting their energies into the event on the 23rd to try and tie up a few deals. This 250k should hopefully mean we can keep the likes of Dupree/Croft etc and we then need to be able to kick on with generating cash through the stadium/match day revenue. Without that, we'll constantly be chasing our tails. Add in the end of the footy season and a few (hopefully) bumper crowds against the bigger clubs and we can hopefully look forward to a drama-free end to the season as far as finances are concerned.

The article is correct but it doesn't contain anything we don't already know. It is kicking the can doesn't the road. The business plan does lack detail. The campaign to raise funds hasn't really projected a vision to set your imaging going... but this is step one and has been done with limited funds and a small team. The ball is rolling and we can help it pick up speed or it'll stall and we'll become a Championship club. We do need to develop and drive a larger vision and I imagine there is more going on in the background that we aren't privy to just yet. We also need to find new ways to increase participation and fan numbers, improve experiences, and increase our presence in the press. We need to identify and exploit potential new revenue streams and commercial opportunities. We need more things off the field to bring in income. None of this is new. Hopefully, with more minds pooling together we can bring an increase in ideas and skills. This kicking the can down the road is essential to buying us a little breathing room to make all of the above happen. With it, we can retain our squad for a little longer, and we aren't far away from winning something which could change a lot for us. Also, let's not pretend this is a Salford problem, or even a RL problem, it's a sporting problem. Clubs up and down the country across a variety of sports live well beyond their means because of benefactors. It's inevitable that it'll collapse at some point. Maybe they should play the RL World Cup in Qatar and us it as a platform to try and bring in inestment. Imagine Sky actually paid RL enough money so that all clubs could genuinely spend the full cap... let's remove the stupid dispensations and make everything equal. Players will start to disperse between the club's and let's see how competitive the league is in 5-10 years. We've had a salary cap sport for years but it's never done it's job because the people at the big clubs make the rules to benefit them.

Yes, and the number of times things like this are rehashed over and over is one of the major issues with RL. And as for the fans of other clubs chiming in, it is simply because they either see SRD as in their way to get promotion and/or in the way of Signing Red Devils' players.
The number of times I read "I wish Salford well but they need to go into the championship!" before I gave up and was one of the reasons for me walking away.
Funny how people can talk/type to illustrate how nice they're being about wishing other sides nothing but harm. All too common in RL circles and blows holes through the idea of an RL family.

Shock horror, lots of positivity on the thread about the scheme JJR stays silent…… Negative post appears in the media and JJR is quicker than flies around the proverbial sh!t

The club statement is a good response to the negatitivity though it may need a wider communication footprint to make it into a positive.
The damage that reports/coverage like this can do to any scheme or development is disproportionate to its importance and half the time it's started online in the RL fan's right to moan section.
Like I've said much earlier other fans and the so called RL community are little different from the Rugby Correspondents of the London media in their efforts to damage things.
If I win the Lotto it'd give me the greatest pleasure to shove their attitudes where the Sun don't shine.
In the meantime though bashing each other on here is not the answer, when SRD are in danger of becoming the new Manly or Wigan!

At the end of Andy Burnham’s hour on Mike Sweeney’s Radio Manchester show today, he urged people to support the Salford community ownership plan.

I thought I'd just given my opinion of football, which still stands happily.
