18-4 HT. French picked up loose ball with last play of the half and went 60 metres. Cross for us in right corner from cut-out Brodie pass.
We've had 2 Williams "tries" disallowed.
Look dangerous when we move the ball through the hands but just lacking final execution on a couple of occasions.

Got our ar$es handed to us a bit there. Hopefully we learnt a lot TBH I didn't think it was that one-sided but then maybe I was watching another game! We had 2 tries ruled out and had another 2 or 3 good chances to score that we bombed. On another day that scoreline would've been a lot closer. I'm more worried about any more potential injuries as we might struggle to put a 17 out against Leigh! Anyone know what's up with Sio & Burgess? |

Thought yesterday was a bit of a shambles, the defensive line was poor, Wigan offloaded time and time again and their forwards dominated. Not having a sixth Prop will hurt us - our pack was ineffective. Liam Moore put in one of the most one sided ref performances I have seen (Apart from Kendall) which hardly helped matters. The sooner we have Sio and Burgess back the better, we struggled massively on the wings. And throwing school boy passes on our own line was dumb - what is that about?
Yes the result did not matter yesterday but you start a season as you mean to go on. Play like that v Leigh and we get beat for sure, if I was Rowley I'd get them working on defence big time.

I feel our problem is we’re a fair weather team when the pitches firm up we’re ok cos of how we use our forwards after may last year we were fine but up till then we were pretty poor hull kr home few thrashings away early I think the problem is you need grunt this time of year and I’m afraid we dnt have that set of forwards ,

Well I think im gonna give them a few games I think before I decide if the forwards are big enough personally I think your right about being a fair weather team. But I am also conscious that last year it tooks us a while to gell so am hoping a more settled team this year will mean the style of play will start playing dividends earlier. I don't want us to be an up the jumper % team, even if that means getting a few stuffings. I love the way we play and don't want to compromise on style just for the sake of some early season rustiness |

It wasn’t the best but I’m not that worried really. We made Changes constantly and we looked rusty( think we should have played the full game against Swinton) but Wigan played a strong team first half and we matched them. Williams bombed 2 try’s hopefully burgess and sio will be back by next week. Thought stone looked good when he got the ball and LONGSTAFF.

Just watched it back and the positives were Dupree/King making excellent yards, Bourouh was lively and Stone has got an engine. Longstaff looks good in attack but the missed tackle on Cust for the 2nd try was poor. We bombed 3-4 tries Williams first one disallowed which was just a dive over the line, then a forward pass near their line for a walk in (Harsh on Salford) and then the knock on from Lafai's pass near their line in the 2nd half (Needed Rhys to run inside). Again Wigan's last try again was a gift, Williams missed tackle on Miski. If Burgess and Sio are not fit then Cross has to play on the wing, he was solid without being spectacular. We did make lots of changes 2nd half, I guess the lesson learned is to be more intense in defence, in truth we should have score at least 3-4 tries on Sunday but for daft errors. Lots to put right and as MTR stated no need to throw big passes on out own line, keep it simple. Wigan were good but our errors helped them, Smiths kicking also hurt us first half. |
