Rewriting history is part and parcel of who we are. An astute businessman suddenly thinks he can make money from RL and then walks away forgiving the debts he's owed after being treated badly by some balloons dressed as fans.
This is just an alternative take on the events.

What debts did he forgive Russ? The club, did they not write off debts in 2020 and took a points hit in the process effectively ending our playoff hopes that year but safe of relegation? Were a lot of those debts not created by not playing by the rules and then incurring costs of under the table payments, legal bills, et al...?
I'm no koukash hater but I'm realistic. If he cared so much for the club and those fans associated with it, why did he threaten the public of Salford that if they did not show up he would move the club out of its home city? That's where it all went wrong for him. Yes he lost money but he bet on the wrong horse by trying to speculate to accumulate with what I put in my post earlier. He saved us but he also did a lot of harm.
We have no assets of value other than players so anyone wanting to invest in Salford needs to do it purely for the love of the club and expect to lose a lot of money, at least at the outset

Strange AR, earlier you state Marwan an astute businessman who wanted to make money out of the Club, then state above that anyone wanting to invest in Salford needs to do purely for the love of the Vlub and should expect to lose a lot of money. Rip off merchant or philanthropic?

Okay, he is an astute businessman or he wouldn't have made money with his business.
Many astute business people crash on the idea of running an RL club.
There is no way he expected to make money from running SRD as that would've made him an idiot.
My understanding is that because of his investment the club owed him something undisclosed which he left without demanding.
That still doesn't give any balloon the right to treat him badly.

I didn't say he took over Salford rugby to make money from the club, I said he came with an intention to buy the land and the stadium where he would then make him money. However, neither of which panned out.
I agree with you about balloon fans getting on his case. He saved us at a time we needed saving and I have no issue with him and his time at the club. I did say he set us back by how he ran us by cutting things like the academy to save money. If he truly respected us and had a passion for the club, then why did he do it? He must have been advised by those like Blease and Watson and others involved what cutting the academy would do but still it happened. I was just stating that he left us in a worse position in areas like that. It wasn't though me being one of "those fans".
Yes he did lose some money, but for a man who is worth a lot supposedly, why when he left were there debts still outstanding that resulted in the club failing to pay it's CVA and a lot of other instances like kit suppliers not being paid?

No he couldn’t have left us in a worse position; without him Administration…which I think is a tad worse

He left us not in administration…probably better He also left us with two people who’ve taken the Club forward; Blease and Watson,. The Community Club idea is beyond me so I’m at a loss to comment.
I’m not his greatest fan but without him we’d probably be at best in Championship, sharing ML with Salford FC. Credit where it’s due mate. He had a go, badly advised, probably conned out of money, made bad d3cisions by his own admission, £1M game amazing, He put his heart soul and money in. The present Board is able to be there because of him and they are unable to invest or raise the funds as he did.

The club before him was in survival mode and pretty much on its last breath so yes credit to him for that. But, he didn't do it for a love of this club, he did it because he was sold or saw an investment opportunity. So apart from save the club which I acknowledge I am grateful he did, what his is lasting legacy? He left us did he not as a club still in survival mode? He left us with less debt than in 2012 but still with significant debts that, without the grand final and challenge cup, we would have probably been back where we were in 2012.
You previously made out like he is some Messiah but apart from a few good memories over the past decade, what did he actually achieve? The fact is that since King and Trainor have come to the club, we have actually progressed more with little to no money while in "survival mode" and they have done more good than Marwan ever did. You however seem to constantly come on here berating the current board for not competing with the rest of Super League and make it seem like they are the problem as to why the club are not competing financially with the big boys.
Apart from the players, the club have no other assets of worth. We have no way of generating income in a stadium we don't own and have no agreement in place to make money from any match day incomes or other events the stadium host. Like it or not, at least at Moor Lane that would change. I don't particularly want to move either but I'm also a realist with the situation and that actually Moor Lane and a drop is what the future holds unfortunately

The thing is that we have had a lot of people who loved the club and despite rumours I believe Marwan is one of those. And if we examined all of the people who've run the club in the same way as Marwan I'm not sure any of them would come out of it all too well.
I agree with you about the efforts of King, Trainor and Bleasy though.
Moor Lane was the only alternative at one point and will give us control. The reason I'm not entirely happy with that is I think the RFL will change the inclusion criteria which will see us demoted without it being a product of how we do on the field.

I don't doubt he had affection for the club but he was also willing to rip the club from its home city to further his own gains was he not? That to me does not scream a love of the club. I do not understand your point about others running the club the same way Marwan did? Before Marwan it was John Wilky and before him, Snape. The former ran us up until the push to leave the willows and in to a new stadium very well but on a tight budget. The latter brought us the glory years of the 70's with his investment. How do either then not come out of it too well? The RFL will do what they do but how do Salford do anything about that? Yes they forced the clubs hand to move stadium back when they did but it is not them now that have us in the predicament that we find ourselves in. That has been caused over the past 10 years.
