If Gerrard has a decent bid on the table then the Council (Peel maybe less so) will surely prefer to go with him than to pick up an £8m tab (is this right, where has this been publicly stated?) and take us to ML .... but has Gerrard proved that he has got the funds.... he's not even offered to sponsor a match ball yet .... fingers crossed that he turns out to be a credible investor ...

I see comments about having our own ground if we move to Moor Lane. Will we own it? If so, how? Gifted to us by the council? If bought, where is the money coming from? Or, will we be sole tenants with possibility of income from merchandising food and drink outlets? If the latter, we will be at the mercy of a landlord when tenancy comes for renegotiation. I personally think a move there will be the beginning of the end of the club as a full time professional outfit. Before anyone asks, I don’t have any solution myself. It is just the situation as I see it and I wish those in charge all the luck in the world in keeping us going. I agree ML is first step on the long road down. And even if not the RFL will bring in criteria to see ML as useless.

If Gerrard's deal comes to fruition that will be very different.

Wakefield given an extra £8.8M, they’ve had £2m to help develop their ground. Not quite right, the £8.8 million is the the Enabling money from the developers of a plot of land that Trinity had planning permission for a new stadium on the outskirts of our City. To cut a lengthy 13 year saga story short, the developers failed to deliver on their side until recently and wanted the land for other development. The developers money had to be paid into Wakefield council until all contracts had been signed. Wakefield council have now given a grant of £2. million each to Trinity, Castleford and Featherstone. The good news is the old East stand at BV, is to be demolished July 4th after our home game vWigan. The new build and the other ground refurbishment has been given a 55 week build, ready before the end of 2023 season. Hopefully we’ll see your fans there, if both clubs are still in SL.

I get that but what I didn't get was the bit about the growth if Wigan come to town and bring 3,000 we can't accommodate them.

I'm hearing the club have approached Gerrard to ask for help financially but he dsnt seem interested in rugby the club are going hand to mouth and this month are even struggling with wages so if Mr Gerrard wants the stadium he may have no team there!

I have also heard this .... inevitably there'll be pressure to sell players soon ... all we can do is encourage armchair fans to join the 150 Club and/or buy the mini season tickets ...

He said he will buy the Club if he gets the Stadium
It’s the role of the present zBoard to secure funding for the Club.

Which they are trying to do by asking the likes of Gerrard to help how is it worth him buying the club when he's bought the stadium cos there wnt be no club at this rate hence why the board have asked him to help if he's that serious why wouldn't you help?he wnt help because he's not interested in the rugby he's interested in the land and the land around

If this is so then I'm afraid it's an empty promise.
I think we're on our way to ML.

Think reality is dawning now..The club has no benefactor and is incapable of securing funding via debt or equity. If we spend what we earn we will be in the bottom 1 or 2 every year. Frankly, still being in Super League let alone getting to 2 finals is astonishing. The future is grim though unless someone has a fortune to waste.

I think no one who posts on here truly expected Gerrard to come in and save the day, but it was nice to be excited by the future for a while.
It's not so much reality though as doom, gloom and Oh well!
