Looks like the Community Club negotiating with the Council utilising the Hobsons Choice Poll. All this is v odd, Agreed if any decisions are made based on a one answer poll then I am afraid I am done and will not be visiting Moor Lane. This outcome is not representative of many fans desired feelings now - there is no overwhelming mandate to go to Moor Lane (unless our hands are forced by SCC decision). Ultimately the Council will judge both Sale/FC's and Gerrard's Bids on their merits and the net bottom line - this decision is a business one but equally one the council have to explain, if the outcome of this decision is that the Salford public lose a stadium facility. Why the Club are not backing Gerrard publicly is beyond me??

They could prefer the status quo MR and sitting on their hands waiting for the ‘ I told you so’ moment
To me the only way we’ll succeed is working as a team to fight Sale, power struggles destroy. The support from the Club for the Gerrard bid is totally underwhelming and like you ML speaks for itself, particularly with the developments in SL. It offers nothing.

Agree JJR, it is not difficult to back a winner here - Either fight to stay in a facility that was purpose built for the Rugby Club or face eviction and a future at Moor Lane playing on a bog. Your right to call out changes to Super League - stadia and accessibility will be at the core of any new plans/minimum expectations for clubs.

Bradford Bulls, backed by the local Council, have put in a major Levelling Up bid for £50M to develop Ordsall Stadium…ambition.

Interestingly, today's Times and Mail are reporting on the continued Worcester RU issues (?: I do not read them but am following a story in the Internet) .
"Worcester were awarded a £15 million loan on February 17, 2021 as part of the government’s Sport Survival Package, which was managed by Sport England to help clubs stay afloat during the pandemic....The creditor claims that a series of transactions, funded and approved by Sport England, has left Worcester “completely unsustainable” as a club and the prospect of a sale “extremely difficult”. (Times)
"Sportsmail has learned the details of a major change to Worcester's tenancy at Sixways Stadium that was approved by public body Sport England last month, with owners Colin Goldring and Jason Whittingham transferring ownership of the ground to a new company which will retain all of the club's matchday, hospitality and sponsorship income.
It appears the extraordinary move has jeopardised the proposed sale of the club, threatened the livelihoods of businesses and put £15million of taxpayers' money at risk." (Mail)
Ouch: to have such PUBLIC financial support.

Also, crazy that the owners, who are responsible for its current position, were able to strip it's best asset a take match day profits. Wasps have declared their intention to go into administration. Looking at the Union finances published recently, I don't see how the majority of them are sustainable.

The Union finances don't look great at this time. With the AJ Bell sale pretty sure the Council will do due diligence on all bids.

From memory I think the article about finances had Sale in around £35 million of debt. I think Exeter was the lowest on around £13/14 million. I think Bristol owe their owner around £50 million. Newcastle oww theirs around £35 million. It seems every team in the league has vastly overspent and it cannot be down to COVID alone. Not with those figures.

Yes but their debt is mega and they need really big money to keep going, hence their opportunist bid for the ground at a knockdown cost. As they said it’s the only way they’ll survive…by overspending and picking a ground up cheaply.

As they said it’s the only way they’ll survive…by overspending and picking a ground up cheaply. ... and screwing us. If they have put in a bid that is not as generous as Gerrard's then why would Salford Council choose to sell to Sale/FC? They have no ties to the City?? Surely the Council would prefer an outcome which see's the stadium stay as a facility for the community with decent disabled access. Moor Lane is a bog with no parking and limit accessibility why spend millions of pounds on it? It is drain of Council tax revenues. As a Salford fan I do not want to watch sport there.
