Yes restored faith in the Team, looks like we’re getting it together and we should survive this season Watkins immense, international class and leads by example, makes a massive difference. Capt next week?? Couldn't agree more JJR, he looked like his old (younger) self.
I don't like singling individuals out but I thought Escare was good too.
And the effort of Costello as well!
When you think they've been farmed out so much !

Unpopular opinion but I think he's been very average for a number of weeks.

I was impressed with the match and thought we played well and entertaining rugby which I really enjoy watching. Thought Addys poor defence and discipline in the 1st half cost us 2 tries which burnt us out trying to recover back from and we were on our feet at the end. I think I am now in the group of thinking he just isn't good enough tbh so would hope he sits out now and Wells comes in as he just went missing. Thought watkins played well at 2nd row and my what a difference having a player in 2nd row who can offer attacking options. Thought the front row were excellent and dominated tbh and I think reinforce my view that it is the back row which is causing the issues and offers nothing going forward. Watkins to stay in 2nd row for now and can hopefully stay fit. Onto Mr Escare well positives is he added some pace when he came on and was busy. However, that drop goal attempt from the half way was one of the dumbest things I've seen. Why dear god would u attempt a drop goal from that far out and also then give the quickest player on the pitch a run at a knackered team with a broken defence line from the centre of the pitch. Shocking!!! Think we can put the brierly/escare discussion to bed as I think yesterday showed everything that I need to see on the better fullback. Escare will play next week due to injuries but needs to (and will be) shipped out for next season. Really enjoyed yesterdays match and think Rowley ball in the sun is a joy to watch and reminds me of when rugby used to be entertaining and not % boring rugby.

Brierley and Taylor out injured next week. King probably suspended. No one back. Down to bare bones against a fully rested Saints team. Fear the worst. No bans for salford in the disciplinary. Gerard got a warning for a dangerous contact but that was it

One of the things that stands out to me is the need for a good strong captain, to control the structure of the game. It’s fine being fluent and off the cuff in the opponents 25 ( or the red zone😉) but when individuals can do their own thing in tight situations, it doesn’t work and puts the team under pressure. Fine margins

Fine margins And that’s where we missed Sneyd Escare made 2 “dumb” plays towards the end, 1 of which resulted in the try. I don’t blame him tbh, he was trying to win the game and came up just short. If he slots that over he’s a match winner. Didn’t think he had a bad game other than that, but agree he doesn’t get in to our first team. Brierley had a very good game.

Still not fully sure about Sneyd and we had probably our best overall game without him. Croft seemed to shine more.
Wonder if Watkins is vocal enough for the arm band?

Maybe we can just about put a team out next week now without Rowley having to put his boots on.

We have a 3 man leadership team of Taylor, sneyd and I think it's croft. So one of sneyd and croft will take the arm band. I would imagine sneyd

Agree, however Rowley intimated Sneyd out of Saints match so probably Croft then. We seem to be too ‘free flowing at times and lack some discipline’. Just wondered with Watkins experience and drive if he might take over or be added to the Leadership Group. He seems to have a massive effect on the field.
I always remember Dobsons leadership; to me really good and always seemed to do the right thing. We seem to be missing the balance between Rowleyball and five and a kick.

I thought the second half performance was much improved - can't fault the effort of the lads. Once we're back to a full strength team I think we'll be a dangerous team. Having Livett back in the lineup can't come soon enough.
As usual, I found myself screaming at the number of stupid penalties we concede - unforgivable when they're on the 4th tackle of the set.
Watkins and Croft stood out for me. Danny Addy just isn't good enough to be playing at this level, unfortunately.

Just been watching the SL Show highlights and Addy definitely at fault for at least 2 of those tries. As for their last try, we had a 3 on 2 and whilst I appreciate tired legs etc, Costello & Addy really should've done a better job at closing the space down, especially when you know Field is only gonna do one thing. We actually had a reasonable defensive line but just shows you what can happen when you switch off for a microsecond. Also, if you analyse the try that Bibby bombed when they had a 3/4 man overlap on the left, check out Brodie Croft's efforts. Yes he jumped out of the line to try and compensate for the multiple missed tackles on French's break but the way he then flew across the backline to try and get across to Bibby and his centre was great to see and that effort was probably enough to put Bibby off.
Far more positive signs though and some of our attacking play was great. Would be great to get a few bodies back though and see what we can achieve if we ever get our best 17 on the pitch. I think we can probably write off the Saints game but a repeat of Sunday's efforts and I'll be more than happy, regardless of the result.
