This Match Was originally supposed to be played tomorrow 1st April, Wakefield moved it to Sunday In doing that they've missed out as well as Salford on two extra recovery days before they play Castleford and we play at Warrington,
Seems a Silly thing to do . But they are Wakefield and from Yorkshire so that's what they do.
I agree Trinity have given Wigan an extra 3 days recovery, b4 the quarter final game, but at the time rearranging the Salford game, we hadn’t qualified to play Wigan.
I believe the reason to play on the Sunday is shown below. There’s a great deal of community involvement at the club, and it’s an important part of our city’s involvement with the club.

Trinity announces ‘inclusion round’ against Salford

Wakefield Trinity is proud to announce that next Sunday’s game against Salford Red Devils will be marked as an ‘inclusion round’, celebrating all the great work that goes on at the Foundation.
Throughout the day, we will be celebrating our numerous projects that integrate the community with both sport and Rugby League, staying within our tagline of:
‘Using the power of sport and physical activity to improve the lives of those within our community.
‘To be at the heart of the community, adaptable and responsive to the local needs, ensuring our projects are inclusive, sustainable and leave a legacy.’
Since its introduction back in 2018, both Physical and Learning Disability Rugby League has gone from strength to strength, leading the line with first-class festivals and fixtures, with even a trip to Australia.
With the sport finding the next level, we are proud to host two sides with so much passion for the disability game, supporting over 37 players in a bid to play the game that they love.
To celebrate our historic achievements, we will be hosting an LDSL game at half-time of the first team’s game against the Red Devils, offering them the chance to play in front of a blockbuster crowd at the Be Well Support Stadium.
This will be topped off with our PDRL side completing the perimeter of the pitch in their new-look kit for 2022 as well as a visit of the World Cup trophies, which will be situated around the stadium throughout the day.
Furthermore, to increase the population of supporters attending Rugby League matches for the very first time, we are delighted to invite members of the local Muslim community down to the game through our Muslim Athlete Charter initiative – in partnership with Nujum Sports.
Upon signing the Charter, we vowed to make Rugby League in Wakefield as inclusive as possible, making way for new faces to join the game that we all love.
This follows on nicely to our final project, the Inspiring Futures programme with Wakefield Council.
This all-new project works with refugees in and around the city to develop their English and exercise skills, integrating them into local life.
With many of our participants never hearing of the words ‘Rugby League’ before, we are delighted to offer them their first taste of Super League action.
Alongside this, we will be inviting members from differing projects including, our, Back to Exercise, Home Goals, and students from Wakefield College which work with people of all ages from 10 – 60.
Finally, to round off the day of festivities, the club will also stage a double-header as Wakefield Trinity Ladies face Oulton Raiders in their final Challenge Cup group match of 2022.
After a victory over Castleford in round one of the competition, Trinity will be hoping to book themselves in the quarter-final hat over the next two weeks.
Speaking upon the ‘inclusion round’, Head of Foundation, Mark Brennan is delighted that we can make gamedays at Wakefield Trinity as inclusive as possible.
“As a Foundation and club, we are committed to ensuring the game and the projects we run are inclusive and accessible and this is the key part of our strategy.
“Within our new strategy, we have a strong focus on community, inclusion, and sustainability. This weekend of activity is a prime example of the work which has been going on over the past few months and then to showcase the work we are doing across the borough.
“We are extremely proud of the steps we have taken over the last five months across all our areas of work, and to have all our teams playing over one weekend in Wakefield is fantastic.”
