Simply not in a position as a team to go to Wigan and get anything especially in those cup games. We can play the fancy stuff but as we’ve seen tonight it’s not always that type of play that wins you the game.

Yeah it was way too easy for them tonight. Basic errors across the park, lack of go-forward, dumb offloads when not needed etc. Wigan did nowt for the tries they scored, we pretty much gifted them. Fair play they were defensively solid but we barely tested them.
Ah well, back to focusing on the league!!!

Game changed with Lafai’s dumb play, not helped by the random set restart next set (what are any of they for?) which resulted in the dubious knock on try. Finally the leuliau tackle, which I’m sure he’ll get a ban for, helps us how? As usual starts giving us set restarts when games over. Really poor ref
That said, we were very ordinary. That’s an average wigan team, and we didn’t look like scoring. We’ve so far beaten the bottom 3 in the league, early days yet and I do see improvement on last year, but it’s going to be a long slog this season. Think we’ll be looking more down than up

Went to the match. Difference the Wigan tackling (and offside and holding down) and forwards running onto,the ball; theirs did and our didn’t generally.
Not as bad as the score suggests
Hicks best ref we’ve had so far.

What I can’t understand about a ‘tackle on report’ with a video ref there. In RU the video ref analyses these types of incidents, shows them to the ref who then makes a decision…why put put it on report. It was against us, not next weeks opponents

That was nowhere near good enough paid professionals not even able to catch the ball. Wigan were poor in attack but better in defence, Salford made Wigan look more accomplished than they are.
Croft / Syned / Brierley need to stop the attacking crap with long passes if we cannot catch the ball play it simple. Cross and Williams all over in defence.
The game for me was summed up in the second half when Brierley ran the ball in and went to ground without being tackled.
King was again our best forward, we need to find a second row with some Xfactor as the forwards out wide create little.
All in all that level of performance is not acceptable - hope Greewood is ok, it look like his knee twisted.

Yes agree re this Harlem Globetrotters rugby. We need to consolidate defence, too many falling off the tackle, cut out stupid errors, and toughen up the middles. But I don’t think we’re far off. Wigan with one dubious and one try due to our error, never ran away with it. We need to link the forwards and half backs in attack.
According to Rowley Greenwood ankle problem out at least 2 months, Wright out for most season, Livett calf problems, so pack needs bolstering. Lafai would fit nicely into the 2 nd row

Agree with most of the above,but gave a realistic assessment of where we’re at. Beaten by 20 at Wigan is par.

We need some bigger players in the pack, for me all too lightweight compared to what we come up against, also anyone wonder what Orr does for our attack on the training pitch, cos yesterday we had numerous chances near there line and didnt have a clue what to do

Wonder when Leeds will start wanting to swop Austin for Croft?
Austin with Sezer and Williams with Widdop….am I missing something or are they just here for the big bucks?
