Finding a full back that has both the defensive and attacking capabilities are rare these days and don’t usually hang about SL for very long. Brierley clearly is massively important to our attacking structure and has the supporting instinct when a player breaks. He’s probably come to that position a little to late in his career but I wouldn’t currently have anyone we have on the books instead of him

Brearley, like Evalds, has always scored tries for fun. His kick for the Sio try was pitch perfect and his support play very impressive. He had a mare last week and, with Abdul allied to windy and wet conditions, looked a novice.Jonathan Davies once did similar to Gary Jack at Wilderspool. Last night he did well,as the conditions were so different. He’s clearly a big part of Rowley’s plans so I hope he continues in similar form to last night.
Escaré played well for Wakefield today and scored an outstanding try. #just saying

Am I the only person that thought that was a crap game played by 2 poor teams last night?🤔 Bar the last 15 minutes where Budgie's superb break seemed to spark us to life I thought we were very average and only a dreadful Leeds team helped save us from another beating. The atmosphere was flatter than a witches tit as well until we hit the late purple patch, which usually reflects the performance out on the pitch. Don't get me wrong, I'm chuffed with the win but the performance really wasn't great apart from the last 10-15 and I think some people must've been watching a different game than me! Agree. It was a good win but not a good game.

Well I really liked the graft by our pack, taking on and eventually containing a pack consisting of good level international players. The step up from th3 KR match was massive and yes it was an ‘arm wrestle’ for good periods but we eventually fully contained then broke them. I suppose if you just want flash tries and don’t appreciate good solid defence and containment you could get bored but I really enjoyed the tussle and eventually the collapse by Leeds at the end. Happy to pay for that.

I think we are going over the top with our criticism.
We have just beaten a Leeds outfit with a Salary level far above ours. Their half backs plus young Walker & Handley are probably on more than all our squad put together.
We should be jubilant as some of the later tries were due not only to skill but also FITNESS. We finished far better than them.
The Burgess catch & run changed the match totally. Bravo to him.
I really hope the miserable Brian McDermott watched the match and if he did the lads shoved his anti Salford comments down his throat once and for all.
On another note I want to say that the lads look a million dollars in their suits, collar & ties. Rowley has brought in very high standards and I applaud him for that.

I think that’s exactly the kind of win we needed
We know we can go sidewards and find some gaps and do some Hollywood stuff that is great when it comes off. But we haven’t been able to compete in the grind yet this season.
That’s exactly what we did against Leeds. We simplified the game. Leeds are struggling for form but they have a top notch pack. Hull, Hudds and KR dominated our pack. Leeds pack is better than those but we totally dominated them. King, Gerard and Ormondroyd were all great. Plus Taylor
I admit i was worried when we didn’t score on their second spell down to 12 but we spent 25 minutes grinding them down in the second half which eventually gave us the chance to score. And boy did we take those opportunities in the last 15.
I think King V could be the best forward we’ve had for years. We need the others to step up. From what I’ve seen Akuala is not the man to do that. Gerard, Ormondroyd and Luckley all look better suited to it to me.
Last comment. We shouldn’t underestimate how good Cross was in that crucial Atkin try. The Burgess break was brilliant. Croft did well getting the ball to Cross at the right time. The way Cross then created the chance for Atkin was top quality centre play

Rowley said his plan was to take them on up the middle and grind them down. As some have said not pretty but it worked.
Agree re Akuola, seems to hide a bit and not very involved or aware at times to me. Gerrard coming on in leaps and bounds, Ormondroyd really underrated, Lannon getting better each match, Burke always reliable, Wells steady, and the overseas trio immense at times. Ackers, of course, top tackler, must be wrecked.
Few new faces for the Cup, Luckely and Johnson probably need a run??

Burgess Lafai King in one of the Teams of the Week
No Leeds players. Surprising how 4 of the star halfbacks from Leeds/ Warrington are on badly losing teams

What a last 20 mins that was, we were poor the first 20 mins of the 2nd half then sparked into life. Burgess was superb and credit to Cross for setting up Atkin, given Sio was off.
Thought the forwards were excellent especially Gerrard and King making yards. Sio will miss Friday one assumes with the HIA - That is ban for the Leeds 13 contact with the head.
So who is available for the cup will be interesting, have a feeling Wakey will want Escare's loan extending too.
My only constructive criticism is for Syned, we need to find touch and our kicking needs to be smarter this week, his kicking v Cas was awesome, more of that.

Wonder when Ackers going to get a mention. Generally most tackles each week and plays 80 min.
The Sky team of the week includes Cross King Taylor

There must be particular ignominy in losing to Salford. As a bloke, though,Agar comes over as a decent bloke and his resignation statement reflects that.
