Interesting 32 man squad 4 1st team props in plus Greenwood Lannon and Lafai; Sarge injured ( hammy) and a few others inc Brierley, probably having a run at 6
Good to see lots of the up and coming Academy type lads in there; they must be thrilled

Interesting team out tonight Good for getting the youngsters starting. Rowley showing faith and developing a bigger squad; som3 will be good enough for the odd game. As Murphy used to say ‘if you’re good enough, you’re old enough’ Indicates what the team for Cas will be

Very impressed with some of our younger players tonight. I can see at least 2/3 of them pushing into at least the 20 man squad this season.

How did the ‘reserve pack’ play K? And who were the standout younger players?

How did the ‘reserve pack’ play K? Afraid I didn't make it over tonight, Was having Root Canal surgery today. Seems to be fairly decent performances by the Younger players. According to Twitter and from people who went. Not a Good evening in Cheshire for the Original & North Cheshire Reds footie team

How did the ‘reserve pack’ play K? And who were the standout younger players? It was a very young side for the entire 2nd half. In terms of forwards then it was a good exercise for Lannon and Ormondroyd. The latter causing problems for Wire in the 2nd half with some decent carries, Johnson also performed well when he came on. I like the look of Bourouh at 9, he is busy and relentless in defence. Lafai also made some decent carries and has an excellent offload but only played 40 mins. Greenwood got 40 mins and will be better the game time - I feel he is a player we need to use more in a game. As for the younger players then I cannot name names given the amount of interchanges. Jack Stevens at 6 grew into the game for me after a slow start setting up two tries 2nd half; one off a kick and another from a pass, he also tried to run at the line which was pleasing. I think he actually offers more than Atkin as a half back in terms of attack. The young centre No 3 made a couple of great hits in the first half and the forward that came on 2nd Half (With the beard) steamed into the Wire forwards with direct lines. Perhaps the most pleasing thing with the youngsters was the team spirit which was highlighted by the way they collectively pushed the Wire player into touch in the 2nd half. A lot to be optimistic about from a development perspective. Wire have some great young players like the Thewliss brothers so it was a decent test. Those rested yesterday will more than likely start v Cas. Based on the three games I have seen I would start Sita/King/Johnson/Ormondroyd or Luckley in the Props. The 11-13 picks itself with the backs.

Many thanks MR For me this is a major step forward by the Club, developing a pool of young player which in time will be able to complement the first team. I know Blease has been positively working on this for years and him and Watto brought Rowley in to develop it. Well done Blease Rowley and Watto, young lads back in the fray. The fact that we have Jack Stevens and a few others able to step up to the plate is a massive plus for the season and they will develop further in the A Team. Wish I’d have made the effort now.

Agree JJR re the young squad.
I did not mention Jack Wells also looked solid from a pack perspective last night but was used very sparingly - did 20 mins.

"the forward that came on 2nd Half (With the beard) steamed into the Wire forwards with direct lines" There was many comments of praise around me for this player's attitude.
And, in fairness, for all the youngster's efforts.
