Thanks Maurice. After Swinton the problem of having big go forward props stood out.Let’s hope the coach goes with our opinion. Pleased Addy did ok I agree a fit Addy will add to our overall pack strength. My heart sank when you brought up the disciplinary problems AGAIN. Surely we can get a grips with our new boss.

Pleased Addy did ok I agree a fit Addy will add to our overall pack strength. My heart sank when you brought up the disciplinary problems AGAIN. Surely we can get a grips with our new boss. It was mainly the forwards giving away daft penalties i.e. a Burke flop after a tackle was made, Wells late hit on tackle 5. Burgess got binned for laying on near our line after Fax made a break. We were offside a bit too. (Ref was whistle happy). The irony was the kick chase was great at times. Just need to work on the defence and keep the discipline. With Marshall we gave away penalties as teams were on a roll against us. This team have much more structure based on the last two outings and the players are getting sharper for the Cas game. Plus we have a starting centres to come back, plenty to be optimistic about.

I thought that was a worryingly poor performance. Halifax the better team for long stretches, a barge over from dummy half and ‘Fax gifting us a try on their line gave the score line a flattering look.
Our defence was very poor at times leading to giving countless penalties away. I lost count of the number of offloads from tackles when we seemed to have the player wrapped up. Goal line defence wasn’t bad but we were on our line too often after losing the ruck for most of the match.
Agree that Croft looked special again as did Brierley. Looked like it was going to be a comfortable night for first 10/15 minutes but we seemed to get very lax after we went 10-0 up.
Fair play to Halifax. There were up for it and looked good. Hopefully this is just a case of blowing the cobwebs away as friendlies are meant to users for

It’s the defence that bothers me and possibly alongside some needless passing at times, over egging it. We need to form a solid pack and act as one to stop the opposition
Our line movement with the ball is brilliant at times, but not for 80 minutes; has to be controlled alongside structured work esp out of defence.
But it’s enjoyable, better score against Halifax than last time and line defence better tonight
Yes and Halifax controlled the ruck and offloaded at will

Gerrard looks ok, Lannon not fit and seemed to have a calf strain, Johnson was his usual self King V seemed the best forward, Akuola doesn’t seem to tackle, Wells ok,Wright and our capt big minutes…but not a pack yet

Thanks for posting the highlights, produced by Halifax themselves. I didn’t attend the match but I thought, for pre-season,there were loads of positives. A proper pair of half backs. Croft is a class act. A proper pair of hookers. Reliable goal kicker. Although I think the pack is lightweight,King V looks a handful and, obviously,Brierley is a bonus at full back

BR you’re right the pack is lightweight, tackling poor, often just 2 men in and Halifax were making ground and getting rid of the ball easily. Going thro us sometimes at will, and we didn’t make much ground in taking their line on for attacks. In fact Halifax we’re the dominant pack, for me. Worrying
Attack good but often passes for the sake of it. A lot of room for improvement, me thinks

It's only early to be fair, so things will need refining.
I'd rather us be where we are at the moment, than where we've been the last few seasons, where we're world-beaters in pre-season and awful during the season. There is points of concern but we need to see where we're at after the rustiness has been polished-off.

Fair comment C and we’re going to score lots of points. I think my concern is that we don’t seem to value field position and defence and sometimes are passing for the sake of it.
The fact there doesn’t seem to be an obvious starting pack bothers me. But as you say, let’s see if we can gradually improve week by week
