Henderson wanted the job last time. Did really well with London and played good rugby. The last few results painted a false picture. RM constantly picked the wrong team and I could never understand why he ignored some players. Who decided on the new signings?

So we will not now be making the decision after 10 games next season, which to be honest I thought was a ludicrous statement. If true it is the right decision, made at the right time get in a new coach and plan for next season.I would like to put on record my sincere thanks to Richard Marshall for is efforts.

Correct decision by the Club. If we had waited ten games into next season we could have been good as down.
This season has been awful. You can point the finger at Covid but all clubs have had that. All this talk they were not his players is frankly tosh. A coach is there to get the best out of the players he has.
In too many games there has been no structure to our play and defensively we have been woeful.
Those saying we finished the season well need to think again. Yes, some good results but we beat a Hull side who lost nine of their last ten games and played a weakened Warrington and St. Helens Reserves. Oh and lost to Leigh.
Marshall said all the right things in his media briefings - all the cliches etc. He reckoned pre-season he had improved every player by 20%. I was worried from the first game against Saints when he commented that we had improved as we lost 40-0 last season. Baffling comment.
Replacement for me would be Wane but unlikely we could afford him - then Ward or Rowley. Interesting tweet actually by the club when Brierley signed and the picture was him and Rowley with the caption re-united.

Never understood the argument that 'It's not his team or players'. Any new coach in any team sport inherits a side. They are always playing with other coaches choices. Always.

V odd, the only report is from the MEN. Not a peep from the usual info buffs, unless social media has it rampaging
Must be a statement from the Club today, assuming it’s true

Said before, through the grapevine RM treated the players like school kids.

Wonder if he’ll be at the Presentation Night?

Said before, through the grapevine RM treated the players like school kids. I think it’ll be this that was mainly responsible for his sacking, yet to be confirmed remember. Things had improved a bit but,as you say,the dressing room wasn’t singing his praises

Wonder if he’ll be at the Presentation Night? Might be a bit awkward. Will be interesting if the club release a statement today, not that they are obliged to, but you'd think that if it was untrue the club would just dismiss it out of hand. Certain members of the club on social media are very quiet indeed which would suggest there's some merit to the article.

Henderson nearly got picked last time but doesn’t say a lot as a club to possible incoming coaches that they’ll only be given a season to prove when it can take years like it did for Watson to build a team that can challenge

Might be miles off the mark but I spotted Denis Betts in the stands at a couple of our games towards the end of the season in a watching capacity. Said 'Hello' to him under the main stand at the Leigh away game late in August.

Such is the life of head coaches in professional sport though...

I must say I am a little surprised by the clubs decision, although Paul King stated that Marshall's progress would be reviewed at the end of the season. I thought he may get another season.
Ultimately, Six-Seven weeks ago a lot of fans wanted a new coach, things have improved since then but clearly not sufficiently if the article has merit. For me Marshall has not improved the team enough over the past year. With many players leaving and new ones incoming now is the right time to make changes not ten games into next season.
For me I would like Danny Ward to join, he did a great job with London on limited resources and knows the game. We were lacking structure in defense and attack for most of this year, getting this back is the priority along with some new Props in. I would also like to keep Pauli. We have too many small mobile 2nd rowers and need size like Pauli and Seb (Who's gone now).

Henderson nearly got picked last time but doesn’t say a lot as a club to possible incoming coaches that they’ll only be given a season to prove when it can take years like it did for Watson to build a team that can challenge The bit we don’t know is whether it was just the results that did for him,if the sacking is true, or whether he simply didn’t show the necessary signs of progress. Ian Blease is no mug rugby wise ,I don’t know King’s credentials in this regard, and they’ll hate having got it so wrong that action needs to be taken. My point is that this won’t be just about the results. On here,we’re no mugs either and he hasn’t really convinced anyone. Some of his selections were obviously going to fail. Depending on the restructure next season will be tough. We’ll have a decent squad and the powers that be couldn’t go into that if they’d lost faith him,as many of us had
