Yep. I asked whether South Stand STs meant South Kersal or South Barton and Paul K replied we're definitely in the AJ Bell for season 2022. Beyond that is still anybodies guess though. Well, I'm paraphrasing a bit but that's the gist of it.

Hearing (via social media) that McDermott's name is being mentioned alot. Think the club are leaning towards him, think he's a solid coach with a decent win percentage, I'm 50/50 what are your thoughts if he came in?

Perhaps we should dig up the quotes from a few years back when he delivered several tirades against the club. Talk about being two faced! Personally a big NO from me.

I'm not a fan of McDermott but I have mentioned elsewhere on here that he's the kind of coach that we need for next season with it being a crucial season due to restructure. Whatever gives us the best chance of survival next season we need to embrace, regardless of our own thoughts to be honest. |

Be happy with McDermott but my only concern is can he do well with a side fighting to stay up and with our resources?

Although we are hardly Saints in terms of personnel we do have a pretty decent squad, on paper. We definitely need a couple of forwards but this will possibly be the lowest turnover of players we’ve had in some time, and given how happy most of us were with the squad at the start of last season, I don’t think we should be fighting to stay up - if we have the right coach. I’m no fan of McDermott, not just because of his previous comments but I think he’s out of date, and how it all ended at Leeds doesn’t shine a great light on him - but I’ll support whoever gets the job, and happily change my mind on him if he does well. Tbh I thought Tony Smith was past it and didn’t want him in the past, and I’ve been proved wrong there! |
