But as stated throughout the season, contracts have exit clauses dependant upon performance and length for these reasons. Been a poor season so not too surprised. Seemed a decent guy but we can't deny the rugby has been poor

Timing of this feels very off. Several major recruitment decisions already made… danger we end up stuck in the same position as last year. Would have preferred we’d parted ways six weeks or just held on until next season. (Unless of course there’s major we don’t know about that has gone on…)

It wasn’t a recommendation, just a thought because he was spotted in the stand on Friday.

I'm guessing the magical 'ten games next season' rule some thought up was just buying time in vain hopes...
This isn't a surprise if it happens. Yes we seemed to have perked-up and got onboard towards the arse end of the season, but the other three quarters of a season we were unbelievably awful. It's a results lead game so not a massive surprise we are looking elsewhere. In some respects the Salford of old would have taken the cheaper option and stuck with a coach until we couldn't literally ignore the awfulness for another year. It shows that the club are ambitious and even though we're financially close to the breadline are brave enough to make a bold change sooner rather than later.
Of course, it's not verified by the club yet so we could all be totally wrong.
We're a bit of a poisoned chalice really as a club, but also with the right person at the helm could really do good things. Head coach jobs are few and far between so I doubt we'd have trouble attracting somebody with the nuts to have a go.

Briers is unproven, Paul Rowley better option better still Shaun Wane but not Brian McDermott

If this is true then off the top my head the best options would be:
Shaun Wane Brian McDermott Danny Ward Andrew Henderson Chris Chester Willie Poching (if Wakey opt against him)
Outside bets would be:
Kevin Brown Stuart Littler Danny McGuire Danny Orr

However, Ward also a worthy shout. No to Chester and Poching has form for us in a coaching role and he's done decent at Wakey. Brown is too familiar with current set of players to be effective coaching them. Littler has the connection but I'm unsure. McGuire maybe worth a punt but a bit of an unknown quantity as a head coach. Orr would be a no from me if our attacking for three quarters of the season is anything to go by.
