I think it's best we remember why we're here .... RL.
But that doesn't and can't mean the catastophe of political inaction and reaction can't be brought up on the conversation. The problem is the politics used to divide us works. So RL is what unites here, SRD first and foremost.
Great posts showing contary views everyone. Contrary views are almost certain to make someone feel a bit iffy but if you keep in mind that's okay to think every which way you want to .... well, it'll all come out in't wash!

Rather a biased political point Carnster. As the Moderator I’d have expected better. No political point. We are where we are because of poor decisions made by those in charge. That's not even contentious regardless of your politics. It has bearing on the topic of the world cup, it's not a political point. Let me state it again...People laying facts out is not politics. Facts are not opinions. When people on here start slinging mud at each other and it gets out of hand then I'll moderate. If a topic veers off topic too far then I'll moderate. If people can't discuss with respect then I'll moderate. I wont moderate people or a thread because stating facts upsets a few based on THEIR politics. Feel free not to contribute on here if my moderating offends you in some way

You seem to want to score points C, by all means have them.
The facts of the pandemic will be decided by the group that will assess all the opinions put forward. It’s good to know that you have the inside track on Gov though, so we bow to your superior knowledge

"THE Rugby League World Cup should be pushed back to next year if it means Australia and New Zealand can compete.
Those are the thoughts of Warrington Wolves prop Chris Hill, who has featured in the past two tournaments as part of the England team. "
"Tonga stalwart Jason Taumalolo says he intends to play in the 2021 World Cup in England despite the withdrawal of New Zealand and Australia and he expects his team-mates to follow suit."
I also read James Graham who tried to balance what he said.
My thoughts are altough it's not guaranteed that an England v Tonga final would be a cracking end to the Tournament.
I'm not sure RL won't be completely bankrupt without it.

The Ashes are under threat now as the Australian authorities are saying relatives can not come over. They really have dug themselves into a hole with this. They have AstraZeneca vaccines all wasted because of the scaremongering regarding blood clots. They did not order enough of the Modena and Pfizer vaccines hence only 20 % of the population is vaccinated plus they have a whole load of anti vaccers. They should look at their own failings before blaming other countries.

For someone who wants to take the high ground on this you're being particularly childish with that post. I think you may need to take your own advice and move on.

If looking at facts rather than opinion is childish, you have it once again.
I’ve definitely moved on; hope you can😉

No real answer, just a judgement call. Whatever your politics, you wouldn’t want to have to make that call, knowing that half the population think one thing, and the other half another. No on likes having to make difficult decisions. If you don't like difficult choices or want to avoid them then politics is not where you should place yourself. What one half thinks is where you have to act and choose with a bit of courage, lead from the front, communicate well why-what and how, be fair and above board, transparent and have only everyones safety and well being at the heart of every thing you do.
These are the measures we all need for politics and RL all the time.
I'll leave you to decide if they've come close in RL and at Westminster.
The facts always speak for themselves, but like refs decisions, we will never agree on them with the fans of the other teams.

It’s possible that this decision by the NRL, which this clearly is, has actually stirred up more feelings for the international game and could ultimately prove to be the shot in the arm it needs. Not that I am justifying what has happened, just trying to look for positives, but listening to players responses they are rightly upset and those who are playing are still very committed to play
The game needs a shake up from top to bottom which we all know, maybe over time this will be the catalyst for that. I live in hope!

I live in hope! Yeah, you never know. We all live in hope as Salford and RL fans! You're right. The NRL has badly judged the feeling from the players, but to be fair, they've pretty much ignored players on all major decisions since inception.

Just watched Forty20 and they think it will go ahead and possibly with the Maoris & Indigenous teams. I'd love to see them to be honest.

I think that's it for me everyone; all a bit like finishing with the Love of you Life, who'd've thought it would end like this?
All the best, stay safe and well.
