I heard one of the issues is that Pacific Islanders and others are not getting vaccinated….possibly for religious reasons. So this problem is possibly bigger and different than we think. Looking at how COVID is running rampant through SL teams, just be sensible and stop hanging onto something which has a v slim chance of being completed, even if it’s started. Reality v hope. Yeh let’s just give up on everything eh. Just in case, to be on the safe side. Good grief |

Occasionally Gadger you have to look at the facts. Look how many SL games are being cancelled and it’s only July.
If you want to just live your life in hope that’s great, but isn’t it better to cancel now and plan something smaller which would take place?

There is little doubt that despite their popularity the government messed up from start to finish, which is a cause of the problem.
The Aussies are not really interested and that is the over riding thing at the heart of all this.
I wish it could go ahead, and I had two million to spare for the Winner's reward.

The Australian government have vaccinated very few and that could certainly come back to bite them. I don’t envy anyone who’s had to navigate all the advice and come to a decision knowing that,right or wrong,they’ll be crucified. As if happens,I’m not defending our government at all,just saying that we agreed to try and stay non political on here |

But you've brought up more than I intended to argue about. Nice that you're willing to defend the indefensible though and shows all that experience of being an SRD fan has not gone to waste.

I have no problem going political as it’s this joke of Government who have caused the state we are in.
Did not shut down the borders when it was obvious it was travellers bringing the virus in.
Lockdown too late by then Covid had taken hold.
Eat out to help out which caused another wave.
Lockdown after Christmas after another relaxation of rules.
An app which is not fit for purpose and causes more problems than help.
A stupid traffic light system which did not stop travel to India despite soaring infection rates and a new strain derived from the Kent variant,
They will try to take credit for the vaccine programme which was nothing to do with them.
So by a fluke rates are going down and we are all allowed out.
However what has preceded this has caused other countries to ban us and not letting teams to come here for competitions.
Political you bet it is

Former Aussie PM says their vaccine roll-out " a colossal failure" and they will need to keep their borders closed until March 2022 at the earliest. It is a fact that politics plays its part in this farce, albeit indirectly. JJR is wrong that people are spouting political opinion and not facts. The facts are there laid out for everyone to see with regards to government decisions or lack of. I think it's a valid point in the discussion regardless of anyone's political leanings as the mistakes are so glaringly obvious that you'd be particularly out of touch to claim otherwise.
If the thread is triggering anyone because it contains 'political opinions' I'd suggest that it's their own political opinions that are making them uncomfortable here.
