For me if they can build a decentish main stand for corporate boxes etc where the one on Moor Lane side is now then that could work but its space. Only thing is for a lot of people it's in a worse place than AJB and no parking around it or anything else for that matter! I went to the "new" Moor Lane for a friendly and found it far better than our current home.

Assume Neville City will own Moor Lane, train there and we pay rent. Could do with owning it.

Salford City do not own Moor Lane never have,it is owned by the council.Salford City do no train in Salford.I was told 3 weeks ago it was Salford City who wanted to purchase the stadium, but they don't want Sale there.

Am happy with Moor Lane. Just need to get us away from where we are as can't stand the place and by the sound of it the cost is just killing us.

I was there last night and took a few notes which I'll summarise in a bit. I'm sure someone will correct me if I misheard anything.😁

The big question for me is do we have permission/waiver from Super League to move in to a stadium that is not currently up to SL standard? Or like red54 says, are we moving to a ground that isn't SL standard as we are not expecting to be in Super league for much longer?

We have just confirmed our own death sentence. All be it a likely long, slow one. Moor Lane is a tidy little ground nowadays with the emphasis on little. There is no scope for much expansion as the locals will object to it. The capacity isn't enough for when bigger clubs come like Wigan. Access to the ground is awful.Parking non existant and the locals are already kicking off when Salford City have bigger crowds there. This is disaster. It replicates Swinton although obviously a better stadium and in Salford. If we are settling for Championship only it's over.Sport is about daring to dream.

Our saving grace if we end up at ML is likely that several other clubs in SL are in a far worse situation stadium wise and that is unlikely to change any time soon. ML, whilst smaller, is far better than Belle Vue and Wheldon Road. With a reduction in central funding and the collapse of retail there’s no way either of them will be getting a new stadium soon.
I do feel this situation is somewhat a metaphor for the current state of the sport. Difficult to see how we move forward as a sport and that may be what keeps us in SL.

Few things I picked up at last night’s meeting for anyone interested.
Stadium cost 18m to build. Stadium company (COSCOS) have debts of over 33m and are losing 1.5m/year.
Current value of saleable land (according to Pete Openshaw from Salford council) is 16m - 20m.
Council/ Peel see present yearly losses as unsustainable - want to sell remaining land plots and stadium.
SRD offered stadium in March - estimated cost 10-15m. Club didn’t see raising that much as possible.
At present only one party (Sale Sharks) in informal talks to buy stadium. They have no wish to formally bid to acquire stadium until SRD future has been secured.
Present contract requires SRD to pay £350,000 per year for match day use plus 100,000 for office space and training facilities. Club have never paid anything close - pay £120,00-150,00. Present contract expires in 2023. Paul King expects a market rent to go to over £600,000.
On present attendances club couldn’t afford even the terms of the present contract to be enforced - extra £300,000 would have to come from player budget.
After 2023 obviously the extra cost would be more like £500,000.
Paul King sees three options: 1. Try to stay at AJB 2. Move to a site within Salford 3. Move to a site outside Salford
Option 1: Salford get £1.5 from central distributions. Rest of money is ticket sales and sponsorship. PK didn’t specify clubs exact yearly income but central distribution is the biggest income stream. If stadium costs rise, money would need to transfer from player budget - this would lead to relegation. Central funding in Championship would be approx. £100,000. PK has met Gary Neville recently. Somebody did ask about Salford City as stadium owners with SRD still playing here.
Option 2: Salford council own freehold to Moor Lane- company that owns Salford City have a very long term lease. PK seemed to suggest that rent to council would be minimal. Club would be able to increase income streams from food sales etc - keep costs for stewarding, maintenance etc low. Club would need to think about costs (e.g. floodlights, pitch maintenance) that now the responsibility of COSCOS. Some people pointed out issues at Moor Lane like parking, local residents unhappy etc. Stadium probably big enough for our present following. Modular stadium- has ability to increase capacity in future. Club would need office space and training facilities away from Moor Lane. Early stage yet so no word on whether RFL would sanction Moor Lane for super league use.
Option 3: Manchester council have offered three sites. PK said that if supporters strongly favoured a move outside Salford he would stay at the helm to see the project through - but that would be the end for him. His personal view is that the club’s identity is completely tied to playing in Salford.
Club will definitely be at AJB for 2022. If a decision is made that it is in the club’s best interest to leave, PK would like to get that done for the 2023 season.
Commercial manager George Harborne spoke about increasing club’s income streams. PK spoke about Paul Trainor’s plans to engage with schools, Paul Rowley’s work with bringing young players to the club and supporting their development.
Also talked about Ian Blease’s vision for the playing side - competitive squad with a base of five or six high quality players who are from Salford, enhanced by top quality players from outside areas, Aus/ NZ etc.
PK seemed upbeat about the future of the club and determined to keep it on Salford. He repeatedly said that in terms of some of the fundamentals that determine the success of a club, he could see big improvements coming soon.
I think the main purpose of the meeting was: 1. To allow club directors to gauge the feeling of the fans. 2. Try to ensure those who control the club and those who support the club are on the same page , whatever decision is made.
