In our society Inu or anyone else for that matter is allowed to express their feelings within bounds. I have not followed the case nor seen the social media discourse and I do not wish to as, like most on here, I'd be judging from others opinions and reports, which without the full facts I'm unable to do. The sad state now is anybody who expresses anything on social media seems to be solely judged by those comments...people losing jobs, people being vilified for tweets, people being hounded by others etc. It seems that a cursory ill thought out social media placing can totally change your life. It's like saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, not good but it shouldn't be life changing. (I can never understand why people getting abused on social media, stay on it.) My view is that social media within our society now has far too much standing; some can send thousands of comments, but if one upsets they're persecuted. If Inu has made a mistake don't persecute him and align him with everything which may be wrong in this case. Judge the guy in the full not by one maybe ill timed ill thought out comment and allow him his view. Losing your livelyhood for a social media comment which maybe badly expressed just seems way off the mark to me.

Whatever the club does is up to them. I don't have a view on what punishments are appropriate. Unfortunately, social media's benefits and negatives are here to stay and I think a lot of people know very well that a really badly placed opinion can get you in serious bother so are very careful in general. It beggars belief for me that people in the public eye seem to constantly make these mistakes. If us ordinary people know that barming-off on social media about certain subjects or language can make you lose your job, why can't those with higher media profiles also see that?
I think the modern world seems to need to have itself played-out for all to see and to my generation that seems a weird way to live. I don't think people can complain too much about the fallout from making social media errors as they are the ones that choose to broadcast to everyone in the first place. You don't want backlash? Then don't broadcast.

Who decides the limits ? The people on social media ? My last post on this subject,as it’s been done to death. As someone said,he has a new baby ,do we believe that this mistake should cost him his livelihood?

As for the punishment, like I said, that's not for me to judge. I don't employ him.

BR: a cliché I know but freedom of speech is not freedom from scrutiny. You can be asked to explain and justify any remark.

V interesting 'society decides' ...what a bland statement...at the moment it seems pressure from those who seem to spend their life becoming judge and jury on social media. Pity all sporting clubs didn't ban its use forever; the world would be a better place without it s pathetic pettiness and judges. Yes last word on this topic from me also. At least I don't have to read the social media bilge.

No to do with the thread.I belong to an era where people wrote to each other or used a telephone. I am lucky or unlucky not to understand social media. From what I can see their is people on it who say things about people that in my opinion are disgusting and the same people would not say it to a persons face. They are big people on it but guttless off it.I will stick to writing letters.

At least I don't have to read the social media bilge. I apologise for the blandness. Social media is just public opinion on steroids, as it includes the whole planet rather than in the old days of your mates at work and down the pub. It's the same judgmental nonsense since time began. The difference is that it's on a much larger scale. That large scale provides plenty of sensible people, but also plenty of lunatics. It's no different from when newspapers went after people and we all had an opinion or not as the case may be. Things move on and regardless of whether us dinosaurs agree with it or not, that's the way things go. I think it's easy to fall into the trap of getting irate at it because it's something you dislike. Your whole response above is an oxymoron. You are casting judgement on a system and individuals that you admit to not being part of or interested in. Lambasting these people for their judgmental ways by judging them. I'm thankful that it was your last word on the subject.

As this is quite clearly a contentious topic, please can I insist that all posts on this thread are kept as cordial as possible.
Thanks.

Apparently this is what KI said: “Not enough words can express how I'm feeling for my lil bro.
“Don't think justice was served to its proper intent. To the so called victim. Hope you actually get the help you need, because the things that was said about my boy, wasn't what he's about. Never has, never will be.
“I'm praying for you my Uso. Keep your faith strong like it has been, and let your loved ones come together to help look after your family. Love you Bula.
“And to his loving family, if there's anything youse need, I got youse.”
IMO & I know many will disagree - but showing support for Hayne`s family whilst they are in total disarray surely is not a bad thing at all. I`m just not into wokeism and its supporters but if Salford find him guilty of a heinous crime then I am not supportive.

A man with previous for the same crime
From the BBC:
“Hayne also had a brief career playing in the NFL in the US with the San Francisco 49ers, where he also faced sexual assault accusations. In 2019, he settled a civil case concerning sexual assault allegations from a woman in California in 2015. Hayne strongly denied those allegations and privately settled the matter.”
If you want to say publicly you still love a man convicted of sexual assault and injuring a woman, fair enough. Even if you know there have been several other women who have accused him (maybe they’re all lying and for some reason have all gone for the same man?).
You could argue that it shows commendable loyalty cos you know some people will object strongly. At a time when violence against women is finally getting some of the attention it deserves, is at best ill advised and definitely risks bringing the sport and club into disrepute. But you can still argue it’s his call as long as he’s prepared to live with his employers not wanting to be associated with him.
But to criticise the victim. I can’t believe anybody can think that is ok. To say it’s about free speech and their should is no right to criticise or no consequence is just nonsense. And you don’t have to be ‘woke’ to think criticising victims of sexual assault is a really nasty thing to do
No-one is complaining about Inu supporting Haynes family. Every criticism is about him attacking the victim. It’s that simple

Most employment contracts will have clauses in regards to showing the club in a negative light. I personally know of people who have been sacked/asked to leave due to ill advised social media comments. Given our financial situation would we be willing to back the player if it may jeopardise potential future sponsorships? I imagine he will be released in the near future.

So Denton is Inu`s `crime` worse than Clubb`s? I certainly don`t think so and my reasoning cited above and earlier. His newborn surely cannot wake to find his/her dad out of work after supporting one of his `brothers`.
Bit of a witch hunt and over reaction on here I feel. Good point though re `Sponsors`. Maybe Paul King should ask them what their view is.
