If the story gains traction then we may have seen the last of Inu in a Salford jersey.

Carnster he has a view and as such, within bounds, he is free to express it. If he disbelieved the judgement, that's his view. I think your judgement on him may be unfair, as you are far removed from him and the incident and possibly don't have his insight, but that's your view and you've expressed it freely, as he has done. If he feels strongly I admire him, not for his view, which I know nothing about, but for having the courage to express it publicly. If he is condemned for having a view, in my view that wrong. That's all very noble. But where is the line drawn on this. We all agree that people can say what they want. We all agree that there may be consequences to those views. There has to be a line somewhere or you get to all kinds of extreme and awful stuff. If I was to say something abhorrent but state it as 'free speech' would you say the same thing? Would you back someone for speaking about the positives of murder? Because that's their view? They should be allowed to express that? You're right that I am far removed from the incident but guess what? So is Inu. You know who isn't far removed from the incident? The victims. Who went through a very public process where a jury found their attacker guilty for a crime that is very hard to get prosecution on. I'll trust the rule of law has got it right on this one. My point about all this is that he is damn stupid for airing his stupid thoughts in public. A really thoughtful reply. There are only 2 persons privy to the events which preceeded the prosecution, Krisnan Inu not being either of them. Quite why he has chosen to air his uncalled for views on dreaded social media is absolutely dumbfounding. One of my favourite players of the last 2 seasons has now plummeted to a very low mark ..... if all is as reported ..... (apologies if I've misread reports / posts)

Someone close to me went to court on a gender discrimination case. She is an academic of many years standing and was cross-examined in a very hostile way for nine hours by the defence, who made all sorts of accusations against her standing as an academic and her motives. She said it was one of the most harrowing experiences of her life, and she is a highly articulate professional who could see most of the barristers' legal and semantic trickery. But this would be nothing compared to what a young, and not necessarily articulate, rape victim would have to go through in court.
There's a common theme around women who are in court in cases of sexual or other violence saying that they're only doing it for the money, or celebrity. I heard this a lot in the case of that soccer player Evans. It's completely untrue. If the woman was not warned, in no uncertain terms, how intensely upsetting and unpleasant the experience will be, then in my view, the fact that her legal team had not been clear about it is in itself akin to another act of violence against her.
In my old age I try not to be over-accusatory, but I think that someone who could spit on a woman in a rape trial must be either as thick as the thickest pile of **** in history or about as vile as a person can possibly be.

I can't believe how utterly stupid and offensive Inu's comments are. Firstly, I couldn't disagree with him more. Others in this thread have very eloquently made the point that getting a conviction in such cases is an incredibly hard thing to do, so the evidence must have been utterly condemning. Second, how as a professional sportsman of many years standing, does he not realise that even if you hold such views, it might be better to keep them to yourself? Sure, support your mate in private if you must, but for goodness sake say nothing in public.
Surely the club has to act, especially with how quickly Tony Williams was ditched. It's a real let down.

My mate sent me a copy of his Twitter response to the backlash he got from his initial post. I'll let someone else post it on here if they have it....🤦♂️

Wouldn’t be averse to seeing the last of Inu on the back of this. My thinking is very much in line with Carnster on this. I wouldn’t punt him for the view he holds but I’d punt him for being stupid enough to express in this fashion.

Obviously very sad to hear all this and Dixon`s comment is spot on.
I just wish that we can be compassionate here as the lad is just welcoming his first child and maybe - just maybe - his mind was elsewhere.

I know what you're saying, but equally you'd have thought he'd have thought of that before typing that stuff up. I'm betting that the powers that be wont be too chuffed with that excuse... "My mind was elsewhere as I reflect on the birth of my first child by typing that I'm a rape apologist."

I don't think any of us think he's a bad person EB, maybe just misguided and has allowed his loyalty to a friend to cloud his judgement. I'm not sure the birth of a new child can be used in mitigation though tbh! Just a sad state of affairs and think the club might be left with no choice.

This is excruciatingly difficult to write about, isn’t it ? It’s difficult to defend his tweet,so I don’t intend to. Instead,I try to imagine being in a position where a friend is convicted of such a horrible offence but I believe him to be innocent, and it’s going to appeal. Obviously I’d speak up on his behalf. That’s what I’d do,despite it not being a very wise action. What he inferred about the victim is,indeed, terrible. He’s clearly made a very big mistake. Social media is a double edged sword. Post your support publicly and then be judged on that support. That is fair enough.. As I said he’s made a big mistake. Do we think he should lose his livelihood ,really ?
