Come on guys let's be positive. We're going to see some live RL this year. The details will necessarily change as times go on because we've got an uncertain virus; but the likelihood is that it'll be much much better than a year ago. Let's look forward to a good summer. Nothing wrong with positivity, it just pays to be wary. First two weeks of this year 900 people a day died. The numbers this year so far have dwarfed last year. Lock down will have suppressed transmission and brought numbers down but I think they're pinning their hopes too much on the vaccination having a large enough impact very early in its roll out. The fact that they intend to throw kids into school in one big group may well be a very bad decision. They should have been more cautious but have instead blown their load on trying to be super positive rather than realistic. It may bite them on the bum when or if, they have to enforce the tier system again in the not too distant future or even another lock down. While it's cautiously good news that sport with fans will be back, from what I can hear people saying, I think some people are overly naive. Hopefully I'm wrong, but we'll see.

I hope you are wrong as well Carnster but I understand your caution. Remember, each of the dates mentioned in the plan have the words โat the earliestโ preceding them.

Not sure why it would be so difficult to ensure fans are distanced in standing areas.
1) Use some of that spray that footy refs use to mark the 10 yards at free kicks and spray crosses on the floor for people to stand on. You can then utilise all 4 stands.
2) Don't allow away fans into games.
3) ST holders get priority and then sell additional tickets on 1st come/1st served basis. Hopefully away fans won't take the piss and try and get home tickets like happens at some footy matches.
4) Sanitise on way in/out of ground and dont allow fans to mill in the concourses if they serve food/beer.
Would require minimal stewarding to police I think and take a zero tolerance policy on anyone breaking the restrictions.
I know it relies on common sense and based on the past 12 months sadly that's severely lacking in a fair proportion of the population.
3000 at the AJ SHOULD be manageable and it's not as though we're used to much more is it?๐

I have always thought that the biggest problem with crowds at sporting events was the travel to and from the stadium. At the AJBell, most people drive, so they are socially distanced anyway. But if they allow say 20,000 at Old Trafford where I think most people go by tram, the public transport will be crowded, even though they will be socially distanced in the stadium.

Premier league Stadiums will probably only have the last Weekend of the Premier league for Crowds to attend I can see the problem with Man U fans and Social Distancing Not being at and around OT But on the way to OT at London Euston Station Motorway services on the M40 & M1 and the ones that go through Berks/Bucks/Hertfordshire Etc.๐ค
