The rules are vague - they can ask but it doesn’t mean it will be given and I seriously doubt it will. I’ve got nothing against Toronto but this is entirely their own fault - they have faced some recruitment difficulties but knew the rules and gave those massive contracts out by choice. There was nothing stopping them signing a few more cheap youngsters for the future.

So there's a possibility the SBW Could be back in NZ when Toronto are playing at the AJ Bell. That'd knock a Few more off what won't be the biggest crowd, Especially when it's a 2pm on a Saturday KO.

I can see the wheels falling off for Toronto this season if they're not careful.

I don't believe that some of the point's Pearson makes are Toronto moaning, Sonny Bill Williams Doesn't want the Betfred logo because of his religion , I'd not call that a Moan. I'd object to Having that Baldy slapheads Fred Done Logo or any Betting company on a jersey I wore, Just for the reason I've never got the fascination with either going into a Bookies Or going online to bet on when a Footie Player blows the first string of snot out of his nose, Although Probably more money going on Man U players doing that then them winning a game at the moment.

I think the thing that bugs me more than anything with regards to SBW is the hypocrisy. The Quran says that you should not hit anyone around the face, but it didn't seem to bother him when he chose to box. (For lots of money)
He's cherry-picking, as most religious people do, those things that suit him. I find this request by him just a tad tiring tbh...

I note we're unlikely to see SBW at the AJ Bell in a couple of weeks as he's heading home for the birth of his child apparently
He just feels like a very expensive luxury to me and having looked at the Toronto squad they have hardly recruited anyone else of note. The squad looks weak & I actually don't think they were as good a team in 2019 as they were the year before. I see they have also dragged Jon Wilkin back out of retirement!
Teams having to travel out to Toronto to play is their one advantage but I'm thinking only about 8 matches will actually be played in Canada with the rest "on the road" and presumably SL clubs will travel earlier in the week rather than arriving the day before negating some of that advantage

It’s one bloke and one logo on one shirt so I’m not too fussed but (admittedly without understanding much about Islam) I do find it difficult to get my head around why the small logo on a shirt is an issue when he’ll be playing in the BetFred Superleague and Coral Challenge Cup, on heavily branded pitches and grounds and surrounded by branding at every press conference. He has been doing this for years though so it is nothing new. Each to their own - he’s not doing anyone any harm after all.

When I saw them last year they overpowered teams, wore them down and then took them apart. They won’t be able to do that this year and I doubt they have the creative players to break Superleague level defences down. They also have a small squad. They could surprise everyone but I’ve got them down for bottom two and anything above that would be a big achievement.

As Carnster says I find the stance SBW takes as totally hypocritical, but then I find any religion laughable at best.
I wonder if Toronto struggle it will effect the arrival of a NY team and also Ottawa, you might find 'the money' behind these bids disappears quicker that McDermott can find something to moan about.
Hope not as for some reason I'd feel a greater connect to a team in NY than I do with Toronto.

SL owner moans about other SL club shocker. The club owners need to realise that they are Super League now. It’s what they wanted, to ‘own’ their own league. To bad mouth other clubs just tarnishes SL reputation and they are damaging their own product.
Toronto are entirely self financing. They take no Sky money or any other central funding. Seems wrong to me. But it means the rest of the clubs get more, including us, so for hull to moan about them seems a bit rich!
There may be some valid reasons to extend their cap a little but the public debate will be a tiresome love/hate Toronto punch up
McDermott likes to play his games and I’m no fan of his. Noble is a decent commentator and was a great coach in his day but I’m not convinced by his running rugby club skills. They will both spout crap occasionally.
SBW is pretty much the only real rugby (either code) World Star. Being in SL brings us massive publicity and I don’t think anyone else could have signed him in SL. Like all stars he’s a mixed bag of quality and hypocrisy. Can’t wait to see him play at the AJ Bell. I’ve read he’ll be missing round 3 so hopefully he’ll be playing against us
