Seems he's signed with Widnes Vikings,
Not a lot of interest him in from Super League clubs apparently. Apart from he was going to Catalan to join the Haemorroid Brothers.

Watson suggested he was a player we really wanted to retain but we couldn't afford.
If a on the precipice Widnes can afford to pay him more than we do then we really are at 23:59:59 on the Doomsday clock.

Widnes part time this season, I remember hearing he's got a Business so probably That and Sheens sealed the Deal.

Think he was a quite a fair wedge for what he's worth so I'd assume we couldn't negotiate a smaller contract to fit him on the bill.

From what has been said by the club it sounds like either Tomkins thought he’d get another Super League gig on the same kind of money he was in with us or he decided he’d rather go part time and make up the rest through his business. I suspect he would have strayed if we could have afforded him and that if we hadn’t signed Jones that we would have got him on a lower contract once he realised he wasn’t getting one somewhere else in SL. Shame really

They come. They go. He's gone under the radar here because he wasn't good enough for wigan etc but hes been a solid professional for us. Like loads of legends have. We'll miss his tackling next year unless we've unearthed another gem from fev. Which I reckon we have.
I'd trust Ian Watson's judgement over anyone else's.

I thought he always gave everything, sorry to see him go, I had a bit of chat with him at the end of season awards, he was very funny, he said he had a shocking memory , must be all those high tackles he took.
