Matty Smith will be up for grabs, now that the Cats have signed Malony. Matty was ok with us, but has done nothing at every other club he has played for

He’s been very poor this season and turned us down last year. No.

Done nothing with anyone? I'm pretty sure he's won countless grand final trophies with Wigan. He's got more big game experience then anyone at Salford combined and I'd much rather him than Kevin Brown. Yes he's been poor for the past few years but how many players have we signed over the past few season who we've said the same about? As long as we weren't spending an absolute fortune on him then I wouldn't say no.

Unless he is signed instead of Brown then it's got to be a massive no.
The Smith ship has sailed a couple of seasons ago as far as his best is concerned.

That's what you call a Pension Booster for James Maloney . Marquee player at 33 years old , Three and half year contract at £150.000 a year. Well done.

I like Matty Smith but did you see him when We played Catalans, because I certainly didn’t. Championship standard now and that’s not knocking the championship BTW. Great pay day for Maloney, someone who is average at best just shows what a bargain Wigan have in JH

I’d agree that with his age a three year deal is pushing it but to say he is average (especially compared to the standard in Super League) is a stretch.

Sorry I should have said for the NRL he is average. Compared to the past halfbacks there have been in Oz he is average and don’t get me on Daley Cherry Evans. I agree it shows the sad state of the game over here that a 33 yr old player can sign for 3 yrs and be better than what we have.

I think he’ll do well for a season or two but to expect him to be still performing to ‘marquee’ standard at 36 is pushing it. It’s brought some good publicity to the league though. Agree with what you say about Hastings, Wigan have got a relative bargain there but I won’t be able to bring myself to watch them I don’t think.

As a player I would take him over Kevin Brown as he's only just turned 31 whereas Brown is 34, plus Matty is less injury prone. However, after he shushed us when he played in a Saints shirt I'd have to say no thanks.
In Watto we trust though...
