Apparently signed from London. Thoughts? I’m happy with that if so.

Being lazy and copied my response from the rumours thread: I’m not trying to pour cold water on this signing at all - I’d be happy with it as he’s a very good player- but we are not exactly short of undersized workhorse forwards are we? I’d hope we’d balance this out by signing Pauli Pauli - I’d be very happy then.

I'm not sure, his stats are pretty good but I'm always wary of small props.
They tend to have short careers because the rigs cant quite cope with the punishment over the years.
Also despite the assumed shift to smaller more mobile packs after the reduced interchanges came in, that hasn't really panned out as people thought with pack sizes remaining pretty static, especially amongst the teams in the top half of the league.
As things stand with the loss of Jones and Griffin, coupled with the rumored loss of Big Ben and the fact that at best you can expect half a season from Mossop, We are very low on front rowers/Meter makers.
Watson obviously doesn't rate Murray highly enough so we can expect him to move on, leaving Dudson, Walker and Burke (Whos also a little on the small side) as our go to "Middles".
This being the case im not sure that a 5 foot 10 15 stone prop is the answer to our prayers.
I appreciate that he might not be the only new forward coming in, but I would be much more comfortable with a Pauli based on his performances for us than a Yates personally.

Just sending apologies on behalf of michiganred who will post on here as soon as he's finished cracking one out.😉😂 God help us if we sign MCB as well.... there'll be a major shortage of Kleenex* in the Salford area.😁 *other tissue brands are available

Watson seems to prioritise work rate over everything else. From what I can tell Yates has that in spades. Being hard to beat is the first part of winning.

Good stuff. He’s definitely changed my opinion of him. In a pack of grafters he stands out. Chester has obviously had enough of him.

Pauli Pauli was totally anonymous on Sunday. I didn’t think he’d actually played until someone pointed him out to me
I hope his he played on loan for us is a sign of how he will be if it becomes a more permanent arrangement. Lots of Wakefield fans say he’s really lazy. He didn’t look it for us. Not sure how much PPs performance is due to how they use him at Wakefield
Funny to reflect how far we’ve come. I can’t remember the last time I saw a performance from Salford that looked as lacklustre as the Wakefield one on Sunday. The first 25-30 minutes at hull were poor defensively but we didn’t look like we weren’t trying, just that we couldn’t do it!! That’s bad enough but when a team performs like wakey on Sunday - like they don’t care and are going trough the motions it is more worrying.
Can’t read too much into one performance but I’ve often thought that from What I’d seen Wakefield we’re over achieving in terms of table position and we were below where our character and performance suggested. Hopefully Pauli can thrive with us and our set up

PP is an impact player probably 2x20 min. Wakefield played him for the full match: not mobile or fit enough.

This lad is a beast in defence, not the biggest, heaviest or quickest but never shirks a tackle and has a great workrate. Looks to be a fantastic replacement for Josh Jones. Also the lad Greenwood when fit should be a more than adequate Griffin replacement. Good business so far.

Salford are having a blinder all round in this game. Yates is tackling everything that moves, Williams is making loads of yards, Atkin just scored (and looks decent) and Murray assisted him.

Yates has been very good tonight for London. Looks like a very shrewd signing.

Oh I thought we playing Cas tomorrow not London tonight🤔 Should have put ‘Salford’ in quotation marks! Atkin faded after his try but Williams and Yates looked very good. I’ll be happy if/when those three sign.
