Questions

There are questions that have swirled through my mind during the current crisis:-


For the Board/Club.

1.If we have taken in c.£300,000 in transfer fees and wages as reported, and also taken those wages of the wage bill, then why are we in such dire straits financially, particularly as it was stated that the 2nd of those 2 big transfers wasn't needed to finance the Club.Yes I know falling crowds come into it but the crowds had already fallen substantially by then.

2.Why have we not found a compromise with Manu to pay him off.Not sure it reflects well on either party for different reasons but surely it may open up a cheap overseas player option such as a Steve Gibson type scenario.Any other team would have had him off the books by now.

3. I think we really need an explanation as to why the 2 or 3 signings around Easter became 1, 2nd rate reserve grade player from Wigan.

4.We also need a statement on our overall position now and what the future prospects are, particularly if we exit Super League

For Ian Watson.

1.I appreciate he is working with a very difficult situation, however why has he got the squad balance so terribly wrong.We are loaning forwards out, several of which signed pre-season and yet we have no halfbacks or three quarters.

2.Why allow GOB to go when "we didn't need to" as  we have no cover at halfback.Not helped by the coach as for some reason:-

3.Even though our other options to partner Lui are not good enough he won't play Wood at 7!

The coach has major culpability for performance levels going back wee before this season.


1.Good Question definitely needs to answered by the Board
2.Good Question again, maybe there's a chance he'll be fit earlier than expected (maybe for the 8's) so initially we could afford to take the risk and keep him.
3. One of the signings was Matty Russell and depending which reports you believe  a) his off the field behaviour made us pull out or b) Toronto outbid us. and slightly related, we can only sign those who are available. 
4. Hasn't this kind of been addressed in the latest LW article / interview with Andy Rossler?

1. Good question, off the top of my head, maybe statistically most squads are more heavily in the forwards as they at at more risk of injury. with Evalds, GOB, Johnson, Bibby, Welham, JJ (as centre), Manu pre injury provided enough cover/options ? By the time Manu got injured, there was no one available. 
2. Again 2 different reports but maybe Ian Watson didn't let GOB go, he was offered a better deal at Toronto, we matched, they doubled it, we couldn't
3. Maybe the partnerships he's tried work on the training ground best so he's sticking with them in a game. I'm sure he's tried various combinations / options in training.
