On paper it doesn’t look too bad (3 tries to 2 away from home) but as you say, they seem to have lost the game by half time.

Kept them scoreless apart from a penalty in the second half. Won’t be many teams do that there this season. They may have eased off a bit but that wouldn’t be like Cas Frustrating this year how were competing for half a game but not enough - first half hour today, last 15 against saints, 3rd quarter against Wigan Goal kicking a real problem for us. We score 3 tries to 2 against Wakefield and lose by 2. Cas score 3 tries to 2 and beat us by 14

Re goal kicking: why isn’t Littlejohn taking them? We were told he was a goal kicker when he signed...

I have to say I’m surprised we didn’t win today GOB didn’t play and Evalds was at full back. We should have smashed them

I never expected a win and would have taken a less than 20 points difference before the game but given how bad we sounded in the first half you wonder whether cas were there for the taking today . Sounds like we made more of a fight of the second half The radio had it two bad teams together. It looks like Cas had their day in the sun last season. From what I have seen live and on TV it seems like it's s a poor league.

Worrying still.
Will IW last much longer?
Sadly pretty poor record over a while.

Cas were nothing special but we gave them a twenty point lead for free. We were utterly off the pace. Now I’ve heard the Gaz O’Brien rumour, perhaps that explains it. I think we completed two sets in the first half hour, and gave away stacks of cheap penalties.
The only crumb of comfort is that our defensive structure was actually pretty good. Two tries came from failing to deal with average kicks. We’d have won this game if we’d turned up. Two points lost in my opinion. Pretty down about the result. Even more down about the rumours.
As an aside, Castleford were excellent on the accessibility front. My girlfriend is a wheelchair user and they sorted out a free parking space, a discounted ticket for her and a free one for me. And couldn’t have been more helpful at the ground. Best disabled policy and practice in the league so far in our experience. Decent real ale at £3.50 a pint too.
