"Gareth O’Brien – The Salford Red Devils fullback is worth his weight in gold, as he produced a brilliant attacking display to terrorise the Hull KR defence. He crossed for one try and assisted another two, with six goals to his name too. Is an England call-up nearing?" nothingbutleague.com/2018/02/24/super-league-match-report-3/
I found this interesting because I never put SRD players, even on form, in the England mix until they sign for another club of course. Hard to prove because O'Brien plays at one of the positions most strongly covered for the national side, maybe when Cas sign him we'll get a proper view.

In my opinion he was never MoM. Sau was brilliant tonight and for me won by a distance. Wood was also brilliant.
That said, although he dropped a couple and missed all the kicks v wakey I thought he had a great game and said at the time he makes the difference when we go forward. It showed again last night, we look muck more dangerous with Obrien joining the line from fb. It’s such a difficult one between him and evalds, goIng to be tough to keep both happy.
As for England, not sure about that one. I think widdop staked a good claim for that spot in the World Cup, Although I’d love to see it happen!!

I thought his early season form last year (before he got injured) at least warranted a call up. Wouldn’t expect him to start but worthy of the squad.
I thought he was MOTM last night. Although he made a couple of defensive mistakes he was the most consistent attacking threat. It was close though as it was a team effort.
Hopefully Evalds will keep scoring and that will keep him happy on the wing.

Woods seems to be blossoming. The break for Lui's try was a great bit of awareness, dragging the covering players away from the oncoming Lui.

Yes that's true we have a nap hand of hookers at this moment, don't we? But what do you make of O'Brien and England, then? Other teams are bound to notice the Evalds v GOB wonderful problem we have and be eyeing up one or the other when contracts come up! And I suppose the question, now MK's gone, becomes can we afford to keep either?

Josh Wood and Kris Welham were both great last night. Probably something to do with them being part of the master race of ginners!

Sa'u MOM for me, although there were at least 5 players who really stood out last night.

I don't think anyone from Salford has a look-in for England. The club has to be fashionable to give a player a shout and the club also has to be succeeding in the table. We don't have the luxury of having a wonky Warrington-type season and still getting players called-up. Bennett doesn't like overly lightweight backs in any position, so don't see GoB getting a look in at any point.

Young Josh Wood has started the season like a house on fire, he’s beefed up a bit and loves putting a hit in. Hope Brinnings injury isn’t too bad as the future certainly looks bright with these two in the 9 shirt.

You'll have to be a little clearer with your question... Lomax isn't lightweight so I'm failing to see what you mean... Lomax is nearly three stone heavier than GoB, even though GoB is a little taller.

Pity we can't play two fullbacks Evalds for his better defence and backing up in the right place at the right time and O'Brien for his attacking play, linking up a setting players up. As for O'Brien for England, lets get real, to small, defence not top notch, not fast enough. But got the football brains for it'

Sa'u MOM for me, although there were at least 5 players who really stood out last night. I thought it was a very SOLID performance, we played to our strengths, big forward pack. We seem to have enough good forwards for two teams plenty of strength in depth. Trouble is, are we losing that flair factor. Thought Lui was a bit quiet. Also noticed that Lui was first receiver to Littlejohn on outside as to when Dobson played it was always Dobson passing to Lui out wide. It has changed round, not sure it's working as good. time will tell also early days for Littlejohn. liked what Iv'e seen of him up to now.
