Would prefer Mossop to be playing, always thought he was massively over rated anyway, Batemen is a class player but you always get the feeling you can get under his skin as he seems to always rise to the niggle.

As usual with the Warriors any kind of strife they're in turns out to be a mirage - full strength unchanged squad.

Irrespective of whether the pair of them are playing or not, we should have beaten them earlier on in the season. There's no reason why we can't beat them even if they're at full strength.

I know it's something I bang on about most weeks but we really do need to get off to a flyer, you can't really grind out a win against a team like Wigan as their game management is second to non.
Go all out from the start, try and disrupt their game plan, hammer Tomkins and if Bateman plays get into his face as much as possible and I'd bet he doesn't see out the 80. Most important player for me today will be Dobson, he needs to have his A kicking game, I'd also bet that Vidot plays a more significant roll today.

Poor decisions at important times cost us, again. Taking the 2, missing then letting a drop out go dead. Our defence is not good enough to defend a lead, we need to go for the try every time in my opinion. Cost us against wire too. Penalty not finding touch after every other one goes about 5 yards. Seemed to knock us back.
Yes we are competitive, but that was a poor wigan team there for the taking. Injuries certainly didn't help, hope sau and dobbo arent too bad. How long are Gob and niall out?
Absolutely have to win our next 2.

I'm pleased with the heart and desire shown by Salford. It was a gutsy performance but sadly we fell short.
We are our own worst enemy at times. The Dobson missed penalty, the brain fart(s) by Lui, conceding silly penalties etc. We aren't far off beating the top teams which is pleasing to know looking to the future.

Unfortunately what I said before KO was true, the Wigan game management was spot on, the drop goal just before half time a perfect example.
Sorry but going for the 2 was a bad choice but what Lui did was just dumb, there was no doubt it was going dead and there was no Wigan player going to get to it, he should have just shepherded it out.
What annoyed me was the unerring accuracy we showed finding Tomkins with every kick and then giving him the time and room to weave his magic, he is a brilliant player but yesterday we just showed him to much respect.
Something I'm surprised no one else has mentioned is the way when Wigan were time wasting right at the end the ref looked on and didn't stop the clock immediately, might have given us another tackle or two right at the end.
All in all was proud of how well we played with 2 very young players in the back line and a battering ram trying to play full back.
I hope when he hangs up his boots Jones stays as a defensive coach, lost count of the number of times last night he went into the tackle low and stopped the Wigan player on the spot, some of the other players could do well to watch how he does it rather than going high for the grapple. Buy off the season for me by a country mile.
