It is a good move but also kinda weird, he will definitely start so I’d imagine Ryan is back up. But doesn’t help the prop situation especially with the lack of English players My goodness there is no pleasing some people. What a great few days for the club. DN was signed by Craig Bellamy last season and I think he can judge a player.

Fantastic news. All players have a market value so if down the line someone is willing to pay a large transfer fee then that’s life.
What is important is he sees his immediate future at Salford and the message this sends out to the RL community. Like others, I am hoping this means there’s exciting news on the horizon.

Croft interviewed on Aus tv. Said he had a meeting with his manager next week and would love to return to the NRL. However, spoke warmly about Salford and said he was contracted for next year. Unless we can offer him marquee money, unlikely he will be here beyond next year.

Ackers has been outstanding in the second half of the season. Watched the game again and his distribution was excellent.
It’s just fantastic to to a Reds fan at the moment. Enjoy the ride.

What odds would you have got on a Toulouse, Salford & Wakefield treble?

According to Total RL, Lafai has the most tackle busts so far. JJR, you wouldn’t be just saying something to be controversial?

This is a great piece and Croft comes across as someone who is desperate to do well.
I know it’s a cliche but the squad seems to have bonded in pre-season.

Aussies aren’t being selfish. Most of the players and their families are away from home and in covid bubbles. Put yourself in their shoes. They are ordinary men just like us. Have any team from the Southern Hemisphere ever pulled out of a competition prior to covid?
Being bullied? This is a line right out of the Gary Schofield playbook.

Confirmed on BBC that Australia and N.Z have pulled out of the World Cup. It was ridiculous to think The Kiwis would come to the U.K with all of their NRL players based in Australia and not allowed to return home during the season. Sensible thing will be to postpone until next year. On a side note, this is the lead story on the Beeb sport. They love to report R.L in a negative light. The cup final received hardly a mention. It’s main story on Sky Sports too, so not just BBC. I don’t agree re it being sensible, Aussies being selfish and short sighted as ever. Pushing it back a year is a disaster and just another nail in the games coffin. As much as it wouldn’t be the same, perhaps we need to push on and show NRL we won’t be bullied by them.

According to the BBC Australia still haven’t signed the agreement. 12 NRL clubs have had to relocate to the Gold Coast because of covid. We could be left with a situation where players have been away from home for months and will be reluctant to travel to the UK and then isolate in a hotel on their return. This will obviously also impact the Kiwis and South Sea Island nations.
There are many IF’s to face along the way but I have serious concerns about the integrity of the competition based on those willing to travel.

I was having a moan about Salford the other week and my wife, in her usual helpful way, suggested supporting Salford has been 40 years of pain and 18 months of joy.
She has just read about the stadium situation and asked why did we leave The Willows to end up Moor Lane. I didn’t have the energy to explain in detail but in no way should this mean the inevitable decline of our club. As a rule, I think Salford fans have never tried to deflect our problems by comparing us to anyone else.
However, after all this time some clubs STILL don’t have a stadium with as many facilities as M.L so I think this is an acceptable short term solution. Maybe even a blessing in disguise. I don’t think we are in a comparable situation to Swinton and have faith in the people who are running the club. I might be looking at things the wrong way, but I would look forward to going to a packed M.L on a Friday more than a soulless AJB.
