Playing devils advocate here:
What if we sell Lui to Leeds, cash the money, bring in Ellis and get enough wins to stay safe. Leeds still end up relegated and go down, Lui exercises his Super League clause and re-signs back with us on a freebie?
Clutching??

Think so - No way will RFL allow Leeds to go down. Cue 14 team League if they finish bottom.

Think so - No way will RFL allow Leeds to go down. Cue 14 team League if they finish bottom. Can you imagine it? Just wouldn't happen. No doubt Gary Schofield would be threatening people at the rfl to get them reinstated to super league.

If Leeds finished bottom the rfl would come up with a rule change. Something along the lines of Toronto is too far to travel to or make it a bigger league. I don’t think Leeds will finish bottom because they will have a few dodgy refereeing decisions in their favour (Allegedly). Anyone remember the Leeds offside and the Myler penalty at Headingley in the Qualifiers? Alternatively they could get Child’s to officiate all their remaining games! This shows what an absolute joke the RFL is. That’s why I’m losing interest in the greatest sport.

The RFL are a joke and your losing interest in the sport because of things that haven’t happened yet and probably won’t happen? That’s a bit odd
So apart from anything else the RFL have no say in whether or not someone is relegated from super league. That’s up to the Super League as they are independent of the RFL
Leeds almost certainly won’t finish bottom I agree. They have a better points difference than KR and London. They have better players than KR and London and they will buy more better players than KR and London.
I would love for them to finish bottom. I think they would go down if they did. And then come straight back up. There’s no way the other 11 clubs would vote to increase the size of the league and reduce their own share of TV money for next year when most are struggling on the existing money. They might choose to not allow Toronto in. That would surprise me less given the narrow minded short sighted nature of most SL club chairs. But I still can’t see it happening.
It would be funny to watch the ‘corrupt RFL’ conspiracy theorists heads explode though as they saw either Toronto shafted or Leeds relegated and not being sure which one suits their agenda better 🙄

Best half back pairing in the league and we’re letting one go (supppsedly) JH says he wants to see what the signings are before deciding what he’s doing. Bad move. Those saying he has a bad knee and we won’t miss him, give your heads a wobble. If he goes forget top five and look at bottom five

He’s been a top,top player for us. All the talk about his knee, his consistency and his weight is just bollocks. It’s clear that Leeds will spend to avoid going down, and it’ll work. I’d hoped that Sheens being fired would’ve meant Lui stayed but not so. I have a gut feeling that Hastings will stay with us as there appears to be no interest, yet, from the NRL. Maybe wishful thinking. For heavens sake, the Club don’t want this but it’s a monthly struggle to pay the bills,so we’re dealing with reality

Perhaps Watto is coming out of retirement, I know it makes financial sense about Lui going but a massive blow for the Club, there are plenty of players in the Championship that could do a job for us.

i don't see how we would be more than relegation contenders if it happens.
There are plenty of good players in the Championship but when you take out the ones on loan, the ones who don't want to be SL players, and the age of some that's not actually going to be that many.
A straight player swap might be more in SRD's interest, simply losing Lui isn't and if the fee is marginal it won't keep Hastings either. It may even persuade him it's time to go.

Prestwich - Just think this one through for a minute - Our gates are pitiful and no way could we survive without SL money plus extras. We have no Sugar Daddy anymore.
If the cash coming our way is the quoted £275k then obviously IW & IB have done their sums and will allocate some of the windfall for a new contract for JH.
If there is no cash then I would completely agree with you but this deal should allow us all to be watching Salford next season.

According to Gary Carter the fee is £65k which is far more realistic given his contract ends in 10 games. We will save his wages/have them to spend elsewhere too I’m still optimistic that we will have something in place to challenge for the top 5 but significantly less optimistic of achieving it without Lui

Disappointed that its so small. If I had been in the negotiating chair it would have been much higher. £65k is only circa 5,000 extra spectators until the end of the season. Last night I ws hppy with the deal @ £275k - Not so this morning! " src="

65 Grand what an insult, unless we can replace like with like which I doubt it’s false economy, he was playing with a real fire recently, bugger Salford it doesn’t matter if we get relegated as long as Leeds don’t. I obviously don’t know what goes on behind closed doors but who ever accepted 65 grand wants shooting, it’s the biggest signal to the vultures who have cash that we are desperate, which of course we are.

If we’ve accepted £65k we are as desperate as they are. We can’t go on much longer with this merry go round of players, I think I’d rather go out in a blaze of glory with this current lot.
