I know if we would of won today we'd all be on a high and things wouldn't come up. But with Watson saying in his post match conference and alluded to the fact that 6 or 7 players have already got clubs for next year you wonder without a cash cow how long we can endure this? Can we as a club survive the entire team being ripped apart and rebuilt every other year? Watson is a great coach and as much as it pains me to say is wasted at Salford. He deserves the financial and fan backing because he will become a truly great coach. Are we a super league club? Or are we a championship one at best holding onto the last bits that Marwan provided before the inevitable. I know if we beat Saints next week we'll be back on cloud 9 but days like today allow for reflection on our future.

I think we could have coped with losing a few and still had a competitive team next year but to lose 6 or 7 with our funding situation and lack of an academy makes the outlook next season pretty grim. Crowds are likely to take a hit as soon as players announce contracts elsewhere and numbers will only get worse.
I’ve tried to stay optimistic but the outlook is pretty dire. Hopefully we can enjoy the rest of this season but I really don’t have high hopes for next season or beyond. I seriously doubt a rich benefactor willing to lose £200k+ a year is suddenly going to appear either- with the small fan base and stadium situation the club is a poor business proposition unfortunately.
What a **** week it has been as a Salford fan.

Was JJ rested, is he injured or Leeds bound ASAP?
I'll be honest if 6 players are off seasons end with our financial status we might as well finish bottom as next year will be interminable.

FFS give it a rest will you.
With crowds of 3 or 4 k we are a selling club plain and simple.
Just enjoy the season now and not worry about next year.
We have players who are retiring and others who are leaving, that’s sport.
To start fearing for next season before it has even started is just ridiculous.
I know let’s worry about the season after that as well😡

The good thing about rugby league is that most clubs are in a similiar situation in regards to having a number of players out of contract. Sure we may lose 6-7 players this year but there are other lads out there, whether it be in the lower leagues or in the fringes of nrl clubs that would be worth a look and also be within our budget. We are a developmental/selling club and as such will always be suseptable to vultures picking off our better players. Most of us have seen in before and those who haven't must get a reality check and get used to it. |

I don’t want to start an argument and fully appreciate your position but I’ve been watching for well over 30 years and I’ve not seen this before- 3/4k crowds, don’t own the stadium, no benefactor and what looks like every out of contract player signing elsewhere (we’ve not ‘sold’ anyone). Even in the very worst years we’ve always resigned a few and usually the majority. I’ll still enjoy this season and look forward to seeing who the club can unearth for next year but don’t think it’s out of order expressing some concern after what has been a pretty bad week. |

Beat Leeds lost today bad week?
Yes I know no one is being sold but you can bet if someone offers big money they will be.
Losing GOB and BMM was the end of the world in some people’s eyes.
Players contracts end and if they get a better offer they will leave.
That’s how it’s been for years.
Losing JJ Niall and JH would be the biggest blow.
The club should look at raising money anyway possible to keep these three, the others are replaceable.

Evalds is a new one. Know he signed a new 'long term contract' in 2017. Call me daft but surely 2 years does not count as long term?

Let's face it we all saw this season as survival. All the pundits put us in a fight with London to stay in Superleague.
Ian Watson has done really well. With Ian Blease they have developed a team which is challenging for a top 5 spot. Yesterday was a disaster; Hull kr were really poor and somehow we didnt click. Never seen the team drop so many balls and give away so many easy tries when they were do much better than their opponents.
But that's gone. So now we need to look at the future, survival but hopefully make progress steadily as the season progresses. We need money, more fans to attend, sponsorship and a plan for the Club to go forward. I'm sure the the two Ian's will get the right players. After all when Ben MM went, Gaz O'Brien went, we alll thought doom and gloom but we went on and developed an even better team.
So we need the Board ( whoever they are) the Foundation, the Supporters Trust and the fans to sort it out. We have the time. Now we need the Plan and some leadership.

Money is the problem.
They’ve tried more or less everything.
We are in the position we’re in because of too few paying spectators,and no benefactor. And why would you,be a benefactor,I mean ?

I was under the impression that seven players had been approached rather than actually signing at other clubs?
We will lose some players and that's a harsh reality at where we are as a club. There's no quick fix, and unless the people of Salford start to get behind the team and turn up nothing will change. The irony is that we only need a fraction of the Salford population to turn up to make a difference. Surely it shouldn't be as hard as it is to attract an extra two thousand people from a population of hundreds of thousands sat on the doorstep?
It's always baffled me. I came to the conclusion that football, apathy, and the clubs failure for thirty years has almost created an entire generation of Salfordians with no connection and no interest in RL. Where once kids tagged along with their dads, grew-up, and introduced their kids to the club. When the club entwined with the community and was part of peoples lives. These things are dwindling away rapidly and I have no idea how the club can engage sufficiently to start building. They try, but limited resources mean it's an uphill struggle.
